Fast and Furious 7 Set for Oscars

Erika Mariz

With newest installment of the "Fast & Furious" franchise ready to open in theaters, there is a lot of buzz in Hollywood already about next year's Oscars. Vin Diesel, who has appeared in almost all of the "Fast & Furious" films, stars in "Fast & Furious 7." Critics say his acting was nothing short of phenomenal, and he deserves a nomination for best actor. Not only do critics say that Vin Diesel's acting was absolutely brilliant, but the movie was so powerful that they say it should receive a nomination for best picture at the Oscars.

The movie also stars Paul Walker, who died during a break in the filming. Critics are urging a best supporting actor nomination for Walker. Many think that Walker's performance contributed to the very emotional tone set in this action-packed film.

Additionally, Jason Statham plays Vin Diesel's nemesis in the movie. Statham says that in the movie both he and Vin Diesel are standing up for their families. Statham thinks that the movie's focus on the importance of family will appeal to many moviegoers. Critics were pleased with Statham's performance and similarly suggested that he be nominated for best supporting actor.

We will have to wait to see if the Academy agrees with the critics.

Kim JongUn Encourages Pastries for Athletes

Erika Mariz

North Korea's elites are loving French pastries thanks to a new initiative by Kim Jong Un. The Kumkop General Foodstuff Factory for Sportspersons in North Korea sent its pastry chefs to train in France last year to master the art of making French pastries. Now that the chefs have returned, they elevated the quality and style of food produced at the factory.

Since the return of the pastry chefs, Kim Jong Un visited the factory and gave the chefs his approval. Although the chefs studied French pastries, he hopes they are also able to make chewing gum, which he believes is badly needed by athletes. He is pleased that the chefs are busy making croissants, chocolate breads, éclairs, gougères, mille-feuilles, custard tarts, and chocolate mousse, among other delights.

Kim Jong Un strongly encourages North Korean athletes to eat éclairs and chocolate mousse as part of a healthy athletic diet. He claims that by eating these "first class" foods, the athletes will become "first class" athletes. He hopes that the addition of French pastries to the athletes' diets will lead to gold medals at international sporting competitions, such as next year's Summer Olympics.

Nancy Grace

Presidential Run

Controversial television personality Nancy Grace has announced her candidacy for President of the United States of America. Months prior took another step to making a White House run by forming a new leadership political action committee entitled "Saving Grace."

Grace worked for nearly a decade in the Atlanta-Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney's office as Special Prosecutor. Later she became a legal commentator for CourtTV and later CNN Headline News. Currently she hosts a weekly show on Headline News. She also was a contestant on the thirteenth season of Dancing with the Stars, which began airing on September 19, 2011. She was partnered with pro-dancer Tristan MacManus. The couple lasted for 8 weeks and placed 5th overall in the competition before being eliminated on November 8, 2011, just one week shy of the semi-finals.

Grace will run as an independent and her platform will include mandatory minimum sentences for repeat criminal offenders, expansions on free speech, universal term limits and a balanced budget amendment. Grace is clearly a neophyte to the political process but contends that she has a solid base of supporters across the country. "My fans and followers have asked me to run for president for many years, today I finally feel it's the right decision."
