The DEI Inventory: New submission deadline
At the request of the Office of the President and with their support, the Office of the Vice President for Diversity has created a DEI Inventory Form. Information about this form has been shared via email with university Deans and Vice Presidents.

Diversity efforts at Colorado State University have grown tremendously over the past few years, including the creation of new positions, efforts, and initiatives which all work toward centering diversity, equity, and inclusion within our organizational structures. As a university, we know that we do not act in isolation; our efforts can and should be coordinated and seen as collective action toward a more just and equitable university community. To that end, we are asking for your help in capturing diversity efforts at CSU over the past three years, in order to establish a benchmark for future long-term strategy and planning.

We are asking departments, divisions, and work areas to submit diversity efforts through the form by March 19 April 23*Note: the due date has been shifted back to accommodate the various demands on university staff, faculty, and administrators at this time

Organization of submissions within individual divisions and departments is up to the discretion of the Deans, Vice Presidents, and leaders of the respective units. Please coordinate with your respective leadership prior to submitting efforts to ensure that duplication is avoided.

Important Notes:
  • Only the last 3 years need to be reported, 2018-2019, 2019-2020, 2020-2021
  • This inventory is documenting DEI efforts focused on faculty, staff, and graduate students, and does not include undergraduates at this time
  • Please coordinate with colleagues within your unit or department to avoid duplicate entries, if possible

Update on special funding for First Gen students

On Jan. 27, the First Generation University Initiative steering committee voted to pass along a $15,000 funding line, originally granted by the Race, Bias and Equity Initiative, to directly support first-generation students. The allocation was matched by the Student Success Initiative in the Provost’s Office. The combined $30,000 was awarded to first-generation students through continuation and completion grants and financial aid packages as identified by the Office of Financial Aid.

Ultimately the funds were able to support 46 students. The selected team prioritized based on first generation identifiers, graduation term, remaining outstanding balances, and financial need.

  • 3 of the students who received funds graduated in Fall 2020 and have been trying to pay off their balances to receive diplomas. The funds were able to cover the remaining account balances of all three students.
  • 28 students are set to graduate in May 2021 and the funds were able to pay off their remaining balances.
  • 15 students received at least $500 towards their current balance to help them get to graduation.
