MOBILITY MONDAY

The recent departure of the Broward MPO’s Chair and Vice Chair kicked off a series of elections at the April 11 MPO Board meeting that helped establish the future leadership of our organization. With the succession of Miramar Commissioner Yvette Colbourne to the position of Chair, elections were then held to fill the vacant Vice Chair and Deputy Vice Chair positions on the MPO Board. After nominations were put forward and ballots cast, Hallandale Beach Mayor Joy Cooper was elected to serve as Vice Chair, with Weston Commissioner Byron L. Jaffe as Deputy Vice Chair. As both Mayor Cooper and Commissioner Jaffe were already serving in other capacities on the MPO’s Executive Committee, their successful Board elections opened new vacancies for their former positions. Stepping into their shoes will be Lauderhill Vice Mayor Lawrence “Jabbow” Martin and Pompano Beach Vice Mayor Andrea McGee, who were both elected to serve as at-large members of the Executive Committee. We wish to congratulate all our newly elected Board Officers and Executive Committee members on being selected by their peers to lead the Broward MPO in the years ahead. We look forward to working with such a diverse cross-section of representatives in Broward and helping them to ensure positive outcomes for our communities. For more information on the MPO’s newly elected Board Officers and Executive Committee members, please refer to the “Who We Are” section of the Broward MPO’s website at BrowardMPO.org
