HYMN SING - YOUR INPUT REQUESTED!
THE HYMNALS ARE COMING BACK! To mark the occasion, this Sunday’s celebrations will begin with an old-fashioned Hymn Sing. What are some of your favs? In the comments below, list up to three hymns from the United Methodist Hymnal or Faith We Sing that you’d like to be considered. We’ll sing a verse from each of the “Top Ten.” Deadline for submissions is noon on Saturday. Comment on Facebook (scroll down to find the post) or reply to this email before the deadline. Thanks!
MASKING UPDATE
Dayspring has sought to offer a safe environment throughout the pandemic. For sixteen months, the church “left the building” and found creative ways to be in ministry online, by telephone, and through prayer. Based on several factors, we announced earlier this week it is time to make masks optional but encouraged indoors. Read the statement.
UNITED WOMEN IN FAITH - TONIGHT
Paola Marco, Dayspring member and member of the Dayspring Refugee Ministry will speak to Dayspring’s United Women in Faith tonight, April 21, at 7pm in the Palo Verde Room. Everyone, regardless of gender, is welcome to hear her share information on the laws, logistics, challenges, goals, etc. for the resettlement process of refugees. She will also focus on opportunities to help support resettlement efforts going forward.
EARTH CARE
As people of faith we care about climate justice for future generations. To mark Earth Day this year, Arizona Interfaith Power & Light is joining a nationwide mobilization to crank up the pressure on our elected leaders to get bold climate and clean energy investments done. On Saturday, April 23 at 3pm, Arizonans are rallying for Climate Care, Jobs, and Justice at the Arizona State Capitol, because now is the time to give it everything we’ve got. Learn more/register

This Sunday, we will celebrate God's magnificent creation during and after both services. Want to know more and do more? Click Here for a list of suggestions from our Church & Society team.
YOUTH V GOV SCREENING
Join us for a screening of the documentary YOUTH v GOV this Sunday, April 24, at 5:00pm in the Palo Verde Room. YOUTH v GOV is the story of America’s youth taking on the world’s most powerful government. Armed with a wealth of evidence, twenty-one courageous leaders file a ground-breaking lawsuit against the U.S. government, asserting it has willfully acted over six decades to create the climate crisis, thus endangering their constitutional rights to life, liberty, and property. If these young people are successful, they will not only make history, they will change the future. more
REFUGEE FOCUS
If you are interested in working with our soon-to-be sponsored family or serving the local refugee community as a whole, please join us for an online training at 6:00pm next Wednesday, April 27. The training will run between 60-90 minutes, depending on how many questions we have at the end and will be led by Susan Masood, Faith and Community Engagement Specialist at Lutheran Social Services. Email Paola for details or the zoom link.
QUESTIONING THE DEATH PENALTY
The Desert Southwest Conference’s Committee on Prison Reform is hosting a post-Easter video/Zoom series, “Questioning the Death Penalty” featuring Sister Helen Prejean the author of Dead Man Walking, The Death of Innocents, and Where Justice and Mercy Meet. This online series will begin at 6:30pm on Thursday, April 28, and continue for the following four Thursdays. Register

ASYLUM SEEKERS MINISTRY
We are still collecting pants, shirts, blouses, leggings, socks, underwear, belts and shoes for men and women. We need mostly small and medium items and shoes size 10 and smaller. All items should be new or gently used. They may be left off at the Church Office or you may call Pastor Jim O’Neal at (602) 579-3490 to arrange a pickup.
STEPHEN MINISTRY
Stephen Ministers are highly trained members of our congregation who listen, care, encourage, and provide emotional and spiritual support. The care they give is confidential, free, and very helpful. To learn how to receive care from - a Stephen Minister, call the church office at (480) 838-1446 or email them HERE.
A FUTURE WITH HOPE
Creating a future with hope takes all of us engaging in acts of giving, service, and missions. If you are looking for a way to be in service at church, we will feature a different volunteer opportunity each week:
Memorial Team Angels share their gifts and talents with the church family and the community at large by supporting families on the day of a loved one's memorial service. They work as a team, serving as greeters in the Sanctuary and as reception hosts, providing guests with light refreshments following the service. Please email Tammy to join the team or for more information.
