Happy April! Spring is in the air so hopefully we can all get outside and enjoy some spring weather. My dogs love this time of the year because they get more walks as the weather gets nicer. We like to get out and enjoy the many parks and forest preserves that the Lisle area has to offer.
Of course, one of our favorite spring events is the return of the Lisle French Market to PrairieWalk Pond in Downtown Lisle. The open-air market will return Saturday, May 4th, so mark your calendars. The Lisle Area Chamber has a table at the market every week. If you have cards, flyers, promos or other items that promote your business and you’d like to share at our table you can drop them off at the chamber office.
Our Lisle Uncorked, A Wine Event 2024 committee will meet for the first time this month on April 2nd at 8:15 a.m. at the Chamber office. If you’d like to join the committee and help plan or volunteer for the event, we’d love to have you. The chamber has many other events and networking opportunities this month as well. The Government Affairs Committee meets April 10th and the LINCT networking group will meet April 17th at Little Pops NY Pizzeria & Trattoria and the Ambassador Committee will meet April 26th. AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT
Tom Thornton

Tom Thornton of Your Promo Partners is this month's featured Ambassador. Tom has been a Chamber member for over 12 years and is actively involved in many Chamber Committees over the years include the Ale Fest Committee, Dinner Dance Committee, LINCT Committee and the Lisle Uncorked Committee, which he was the Chair of last year. Tom is also the 2024 Chairman of the Chamber's Board of Directors.
Tom is the owner of Your Promo Partners and has been in sales in the printing industry for over 30 years. Since he is the owner of Your Promo Partners and it is a small business, he handles almost everything. Most of what he does is sales and he really enjoys that since he loves to meet and talk to people. He has lived in Lisle for 24 years and has three children that are all in their 20's. The first of the three moved out on their own last fall. Tom also has two German Sheperds, Gunner who is six and Thor who is three. He spends a lot of time taking the dogs on hiking trips and outings to the local forest preserves. Tom also enjoys grilling.
The Ambassador Committee gives Tom the opportunity to be involved and meet a lot of the Chamber members. He likes to visit new members and welcome them to the Chamber. Tom has made many friends and has gotten a lot of new clients by being an Ambassador. One of his favorite quotes is from Albert Einstein, "In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity."

The Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce awards scholarships to high school students graduating in 2024. Awards are based on several considerations that include academic achievement, community involvement, and need.
Application deadline is April 5, 2024 by 4:00 p.m.

Application Requirements
- Applicants must either have an immediate family member who is a member of the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce (individually or through corporate affiliation), or they must have a Lisle mailing address.
- Applicants must plan to attend a technical or trade school, business college, or a two- or four-year college or university.
- The application packet must be fully and legibly completed.

The application must be received at the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce via email submission (info@lislechamber.com or jill@lislechamber.com); delivered in-person to the Lisle Area Chamber office or by U.S. Mail postmarked (925 Burlington Avenue, Lisle IL 60532) by 4:00 p.m. on April 5, 2024. The Chamber newsletter is a great way to get your company name seen. When our members send us something special happening or exciting news about their business, we will feature it in our monthly newsletter. The Chamber Raves section of the monthly newsletter features special recognition of the member or the business. Send us your accolades so we can share your news, claudine@lislechamber.com. Another way to market an event with the Chamber is by adding it to our Community Events calendar on our website. Visit our website and click on the "News and Events" section and then click on "Submit an Event" and enter your event information. Once we approve the calendar entry, it will be listed on our Community Events calendar. These marketing opportunities are included with your Chamber Membership.
A representative from Town Square Publications will be calling your business for another Lisle Area Chamber business marketing opportunity; which is advertising space in a Lisle map. They will go over the options to purchase and ad in the upcoming Community Map. The Community Map will be distributed in July.
We are looking forward to more than 280 attendees representing 20 chambers that are participating in the Annual Multi-Chamber Economic Outlook Luncheon & Business Expo on April 4th. The keynote speaker will be Austan D. Goolsbee, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. There will also be networking with the 32 expo tables of chamber businesses before the luncheon and speaker. We thank Larry Forssberg, Executive Director of the Westmont Chamber for taking the lead on this always informative event. In May's newsletter, I will share the economic trends discussed by the President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
Don't forget to have your high school senior apply for the Chamber scholarships. The deadline for the scholarship application is Friday, April 5, 2024 by 4:00 p.m. To be eligible you must live in Lisle, attend a high school in District 202, 203 or 99, or be a child of a parent from a Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce member.
