Scooter & E-Bikeshare Season Is Here
The annual April crop of scooters and e-Bikes sprouted on the streets of downtown this week. Brightly colored Lime and VEO vehicles now populate the blue seasonal bike racks and corner posts. Scooter and e-bike share is a fun and convenient way to make short trips without reaching for the car keys. It’s easy to zip to a meeting across downtown, or ride with friends to a neighborhood coffee shop.
Downloading the Lime or VEO app is the first step to renting a scooter or e-bike. Learn about terms, best practices, and pricing before you ride. The City of Minneapolis provides rules and guidelines on where it is safe and legal to ride and park. The app allows you to quickly find available vehicles and can unlock them for riding. Operation time in Minneapolis is 4 a.m. until 12 a.m. daily.
Both VEO and Lime offer affordability programs with lower rates for those who qualify when filling out an application.
Questions or concerns about scooters? Council member Michael Rainville has arranged a Town Hall Meeting at The Depot Hotel (225 3rd Ave S, Minneapolis) at 6 pm on Monday, May 13th, 2024.

The Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota, Our Streets, Sierra Club North Star Chapter and other partners, are hosting Henry Grabar – Harvard Loeb Fellow and author of Paved Paradise. His book has ignited national discussion about our built environment, particularly how the prioritization of automobile parking has resulted in problems for housing development, transportation, and equity. In a city and state where transportation is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions, local ordinances that require off-street parking have significant sustainability implications.
FREE to attend, but an RSVP as “going” on the facebook event will help keep an eye on numbers.
