ASWN Election Results Are In!
For the Associated Students of Western Nevada, it’s all about continuity following the election returns.
The three elected officers are all returning ASWN members. In addition, half of the six senators are returning to the student government group for WNC's 2023-24 academic year. Congratulations!

 
Former ASWN President Selected as Student Employee of the Year
Andrea Sanchez De Loza’s dedication and mentorship skills as a student worker have contributed to her being selected as the 2022-23 Western Nevada College Student Employee of the Year. Well done, Andrea!

 
2023 Graduates Advised to Order Regalia by May 12 Via Online Bookstore
With WNC’s Commencement ceremonies nearing, graduating students are reminded to order their graduation regalia by May 12 at wncbookstore.com so they receive their orders in time for the ceremonies on May 22 and May 25.


 
ASWN Presents Awards to Students, Faculty & Staff in Fandango Ballroom
The Associated Students of Western Nevada (ASWN) recognized outstanding students, faculty and staff during its Awards and Appreciation Ceremony on April 21 in the Casino Fandango Grand Ballroom.
ROADS Program Making Nursing Dream Possible for Mother of Two
WNC first-year RN student Alba Morales feels fortunate that she can pursue her dream of becoming a forensic nurse while her two children are so young. Through grant funding provided by ROADS’s partnership with DETR, Morales is able to concentrate on WNC's rigorous Nursing program.
Annual Student Art Show on Display through May 11 in Main Gallery
The artistic gifts of Western Nevada College students are now on display in Bristlecone Main Gallery on the Carson City campus. The 2023 WNC Student Art Show, which includes 76 art pieces from students enrolled during the 2022-23 academic year, is being presented through May 11.
Fall 2023 Registration Underway
New, returning and continuing students can register for fall courses. On the website, students can scan the list of classes offered. The semester begins Aug. 28.
Bently Nevada Hosts Tour, Job Interviews for ROADS Students
Students from WNC's ROADS program toured Bently Nevada's manufacturing plant on April 19 in Minden. Following the tour, students met with the manufacturer's management team for job interviews.

Nevada Legislature Welcomes Wildcats
WNC’s Legislature Day provided students, faculty and staff with an introduction to what transpires in Legislature Building by attending a senate meeting and interacting with state senators and assembly members throughout the day. WNC reps also shared swag and information about the college.
Soroptimists to Honor CDC Director
Child Development Center Director Anna Lisa Acosta-Rogers will be recognized by Soroptimist International of Carson City’s Celebrating Women Helping Women event as part of LUNAFEST on May 11 at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall.
Chamber Leadership Institute's Dance Party Aids Veterans Resource Center
The Carson City Chamber Leadership Institute presented an '80s Dance Party on April 8 to benefit the Veterans Resource Center.

NAH's Simulation Promotes Teamwork Between Emergency, Medical Personnel
A three-hour emergency simulation for Nursing, Emergency Medical Services and Certified Nursing Assistant students an opportunity to reflect on their role during emergencies and experience life-saving situations.

Raise Awareness of Child Abuse
Children planted more than 100 pinwheels in front of the Child Development Center on April 7 to help raise awareness during Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Nursing's Class of 2023 to Celebrate Pinning Ceremony on May 19
For the graduating nurses and their family and friends, May 19 will be a night to remember. Nursing & Allied Health will celebrate their Class of 2023 with a traditional pinning ceremony form 4 to 6 p.m. in the Carson City Community Center.
Commencement Ceremonies Set for May 22 in Carson City, May 25 in Fallon
For the first time since 2019, WNC is planning traditional commencement ceremonies to honor the Class of 2023. Ceremonies are set for Marv Teixeira Pavilion on Monday, May 22 at 10 a.m. and Barkley Theatre in Oats Park Art Center at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 25.
WNMTC Presents 'Newsies' May 5-14
at Carson City Community Center
Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company is presenting the high-powered Broadway hit "Newsies" on weekends from May 5-14 at the Carson City Community Center. It's the rousing tale of a band of teenaged "newsies" who sell newspapers in turn-of-the-century and are impacted by publishers raising distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense. Tickets are available at wnmtc.com/buy-tickets.
Honor Deceased Military Service Members in Operation Battle Born
To honor military service members lost since 9/11, WNC, TMCC and UNR veterans services present Operation Battle Born, a walk from the Capitol Building to Fernley Veterans Memorial Cemetery on May 27-29.
In-Person Workshop to Help Businesses with Shortage of Help for Workload
Continuing Education's Too Much Work, Not Enough Help Workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, June 6 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at WNC. It is intended to help businesses say no to the wrong clients and how to prevent losing their top performers.
