Spring is here in North Carolina and that means splashes of color are beginning to appear in the mountains. It is the perfect time of year to take a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway or visit one of the many waterfalls in our area. If you visit Franklin, a must-see sight is Dry Falls, on US-64 (Highlands Rd). Absolutely breathtaking!

It is also the perfect time to take a trip to see the all the colors at Silver Threads & Golden Needles. We have new yarns and new colors for your Spring and Summer projects. Take a look at all the color in the shop right now.

Meet Teddy!

Teddy is our newest member of the Silver Threads & Golden Needles team! This cuddly teddy bear was knit by Charles Gandy. Pattern is the Honeyberry Bear and is available on Ravelry. Teddy takes two skeins of Furreal and 20 grams of Ultra Alpaca Chunky (or any other chunky weight yarn) for the paws.
Botanic Shawl

This stunning shawl is a new Stephen West design. Laura Marshall knit this with two balls of Zauberball sock yarn and two skeins of Malabrigo sock weight yarn. Look closely to see the interesting design of this pattern.
Carol Martin and Charles Gandy have done it again!

They both have released new patterns on Ravelry this week.
Do you want to learn how to make socks, but don't have time to take a class? This pattern is just for you!

Carol has just released the sock pattern she uses to teach her Beginning Sock Class. This easy-to-follow pattern is perfect for any level of knitter, but especially helpful for beginning sock knitters.

The pattern is called "The Best Basic Sock" and is available on Ravelry. Check out Carol's other designs on her Ravelry page.
Charles has released two new patterns in the last few weeks. The first one is his "Aha! Wrap" which takes three skeins of sock weight yarn. He used Practically Perfect Sock from Emma's Yarn for the sample shown. This beautiful rectangular wrap is perfect for our cool summer nights. It can also be worn as a scarf (as shown).
His second new pattern is the "Line By Line Shawl" which is a simple knit of garter ridges that uses one skein of Zauberball Crazy and one skein of any sock weight yarn. In the sample shown, he used one skein of Practically Perfect Sock yarn by Emma's Yarn.

You can find these two designs and many more by Charles Gandy on his Ravelry page.
