March 2021

The Canadian Simmental Association would like to thank everyone who joined our recent By-law information session. It was a respectful exchange of thoughts, opinions and information that will lead Simmental to an even stronger contribution to Canada’s beef industry.

For those who were not able to participate a recording of the session can be found HERE.

The process for distribution of the ballots to the membership as well as counting them is found within the CSA bylaws. As stated in the CSA bylaws, an independent third party will be involved in the vote counting process. Please watch your mailboxes for your ballots in April. It is extremely important to read and follow the accompanying instructions.

If you have any questions contact CSA General Manager Bruce Holmquist at or (639) 314-4613

Our membership’s collective voice drives the CSA and will only be heard by returning your ballot to the CSA office.

Online Members Buyer Numbers for Transfers

Online Members can access their buyers history under online tools - NEW!! Buyer History. This report includes and can be sorted by buyer name, address, Herd (Account Number), dates of sale, gender and number of head.  For any new commercial buyers who are not on your list, contact our office with their name and complete address.

Members who are users of the online system, now have access to Docility, Post Weaning Gain and Yield Grade EPD on their cattle.
Docility is calculated using breeder submitted docility scores and a higher EPD value indicates animals that are more likely to have offspring that score 1 or 2 (quiet) on the docility scoring scale.
Post Weaning Gain EPD predicts the daily rate of growth of offspring post-weaning. A larger value indicates a higher average daily gain.
Yield Grade EPD indicates the likelihood of offspring receiving a yield grade score of 1 or 2. Yield grade 1 and 2 are higher yielding carcasses. A lower EPD indicates cattle that are likely to have more yield or a lower yield grade score (more 1 and 2).
