RA Honors Volunteers in Anticipation of National Volunteer Week
Reston Association relies on volunteers to help Reston grow and be a better place to live, work, play and get involved, and two of those active volunteers were honored recently at the Association’s Annual Members’ Meeting.
Jane Braum, who recently led the volunteer effort for the 2023 RA Community Survey, was honored as RA’s 2023 Volunteer of the Year. Jane led community engagement, analysis, staff/vendor collaboration and presentations to multiple audiences which equates to well over 1,000 hours on this important community survey campaign. She was instrumental in coordinating the education, communication and outreach that ultimately led to the success of the project.
High school sophomore Anna Najafi was honored as the 2023 Youth Volunteer of the Year. Anna has volunteered at numerous community events and environmental projects, including planting trees at Arbor Dar, removing invasive plants in natural areas, and assisting staff at various events, including the summer Dog Paddles, Halloween Events, Holiday Fest, MLK Day of Service and much more.
National Volunteer Week is coming up April 21-27, and there are a variety of ways to volunteer with Reston Association, including the upcoming Earth Day at Walker Nature Center on April 22 and the Potomac River Watershed Cleanup event on April 27. Interested? Contact Ha Brock, Volunteer Manager, for information on these opportunities and more.
