Kick off your weekend with some fun at our Earth Day Fair in collaboration with the La Mesa Park and Recreation Foundation! This Saturday, April 20, swing by MacArthur Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a day packed with activities. We've got something for everyone, from bike safety demos and Fixit clinics to a chance to win a bike! Plus, there'll be over 60 vendors showcasing sustainable products and resources, take-home projects like seed planting and flower crowns, entertainment, food trucks, and more. Don't miss out on the fun!

We’re now accepting applications for Cohort 3 of our successful La Mesa Entrepreneurship Accelerator Program. Thanks to funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), 35 La Mesa businesses will get up to $10,000 per business in grant funding. The application deadline is April 30. | |
Slurry Seal Project Underway in La Mesa | |
The City is repairing and sealing approximately 2.65 million square feet of roads around the city. Over the next few weeks, crews will be preparing various streets for slurry. This approach not only enhances the appearance of the City’s more than 153 miles of streets; it also helps to prevent further deterioration caused by weather and daily wear and tear. | |

The City Council proclaimed April as both Art, Culture, and Creativity Month, and Volunteer Month.
With over 952,000 hours on the books in the program's history, volunteers have off-set over $17 million dollars in personnel cost. From single day events like Earth Day to more than 20 weekly drop-in classes at the Adult Enrichment Center, La Mesa volunteers are part of what makes this community the "Jewel of the Hills." Extra special this year, the La Mesa Police Department's RSVP program was recognized for 30 years of volunteerism in the City. | | |

This plan aligns with the City's goals of safety, quality of life, and infrastructure investment. The Local Road Safety Plan (LRSP) is up for consideration by the La Mesa City Council. It's a comprehensive approach to address safety issues in signalized and unsignalized intersections, as well as roadway segments, based on data collected over a five-year period. The plan aims to prioritize safety improvements to reduce collisions and enhance road safety for all users. Adoption of the plan is crucial for the city to apply for grant funding and aligns with the Vision Zero initiative to eliminate traffic-related fatalities and severe injuries. | |

This free activity is open to the public and will feature an interactive bicycle course designed to teach people of all ages important bicycle skills like proper helmet fitting, hand signals, starting and stopping, balancing, and avoiding hazards. |
