Big news, Texas! 📣The Biden administration has fueled our state's future with a massive $150 billion investment. Say hello to new funding for semiconductors, renewable energy, better roads, clean water, and high-speed internet (just to name a few) all across the state!

Happy #Passover to our Jewish neighbors here in Texas. We’re wishing a kosher and joyous Passover to all who celebrate. Chag Pesach sameach!

Ted Cruz has no idea what he’s talking about. Follow @BeatCruzWarRoom to help fire him this November.

2024 Montgomery County Democratic Convention

The Democratic Party of Montgomery County Texas held its combination County, Precinct, and Congressional District Convention on March 23rd, in preparation for the upcoming Texas State Democratic Party Convention in El Paso TX on June 6th – 8th.

Registration was onsite and online, and we had 87 registered attendees.

We provided breakfast to attendees and raised much needed funds by providing lunch for a small donation. We also held a Silent Auction and were able to sell advertising space in our event brochure. This extra effort turned this statutory meeting from not just about delegates to the State convention and important resolutions submitted to the State, but also to a County Party fundraiser.

Our agenda for the day was full:

8:30 AM - Registration and Submission of Resolutions

10:00 AM - General Convention Call to Order – Bill Duncan, MC

Opening Ceremonies:

Posting of Colors; US and Texas Pledges: Boy Scout Troop 351-07

God Bless America and Star-Spangled Banner: Stella Lewis Scott

God Bless Texas: Barbara Johnson Tucker

Invocation: Pastor Charlene Glover

11:00AM County Chair Address and explanation of convention procedures

11:15AM Introduction of Party Officers, Temporary Convention Chairs and Committee Chairs

11:30 AM Candidate Speeches – Mike Midler and George Newman

12:30 PM Lunch – Silent Auction

1:00 PM Congressional District breakouts (CD2 and CD8)

Total MC delegate allocations: 114 (CD2) and 62 (CD8)

2:00 PM Candidate Speeches – Laura Jones and Peter Filler

2:30 PM Keynote – TJ Wilkerson

3:00 PM Report of Credentials Committees

3:15 PM Report of Rules Committee

3:30 PM Report of Resolutions Committee

3:45 PM Closing remarks with our County Chair Elect

4:00 PM Adjournment

Margie Kremer, who has steadfastly been running the MCDP Headquarters for years, was recognized for her dedicated service. Margie knows all the rules, deadlines, processes and details about running the Party and has been invaluable.

Our heartfelt thanks to Margie and to her family for their patience and tolerance!

Thanks to all the Convention Volunteers and Donors!

As they say, “it takes a village” and that is true for putting on a convention!  So many committed Dems came together to make the convention a success and we would like to try to name them and and express our sincere thanks and appreciation. And many others donated and/or purchased food and other items. Despite our best efforts, it is probable we missed someone, so please accept our apologies and know your contribution mattered!

There are a total of 75 unique names on this list!  Many gave of their time and resources in multiple ways. The names are listed in alphabetical order in each category.
