Did you know blue is the color considered to have the most "stress relieving" effect. Yellow and Red are considered the "most stressful".
Stress triggers the release of "stress hormones" like cortisol and adrenaline. The increase of stress hormones leads to an increased risk of inflammation and also increases our risk for high blood pressure, weight gain and difficulty sleeping.
5 WAYS YOU CAN REDUCE STRESS
IDENTIFY - what is causing you to feel stressed?
ACT - What can YOU do to alter your routine or behavior to reduce or even AVOID the trigger?
PAUSE - Whether it is a 5 minute breathing/meditation break at work or a 5 day vacation, give your mind a break from the stress.
MOVE - Get physical with any type of movement or exercise that you enjoy doing. The hormones from physical activity directly combat and reduce the hormones released from stress.
GET HELP - If you are struggling with how to deal with the stress in your life and/or are concerned about the impact stress is having on your health, reach out to a mental health professional or your primary care provider for support.
