This presentation provides a case study examining Nazi Germany and the United States during the 1930s, at a time when racism and eugenics were enshrined in law and practice. We will examine the national and historical contexts in which racism manifested in the two countries, and explore how the pseudoscience of eugenics as well as concerns about "racial purity" found its way into the laws of the United States and Nazi Germany. Presented by Barbara Wahlberg from the Rhode Island Holocaust and Genocide Education Commission.

Join us on the third Tuesday of every month for a screening of a contemporary feature film or documentary and discussion focusing on artists, designers, photographers, and other creative fields. Presented in partnership with the Tiverton Arts Council.

This month, we will watch and discuss Origami in the Garden (2021; Not Rated; 1h, 30min) – an art film, a love story, and the journey of two artists as they strive to spread peace and inspiration throughout the world through sculpture. Popcorn and drinks will be provided.

Tiverton Library offers free tech help to all residents. You don’t need to be a member of the library to use this service. We can help you with iPhone and Android phones, tablets, e-readers, and computers. You don’t have to own a device to attend tech help. What is a solo TTRPG? It's a tabletop role playing game (think Dungeons & Dragons) that you play at your own pace through journaling. Build a character and take them on a journey through prompts, dice rolls, card pulls, and guide books!

Join us to choose a game and build your character. All materials are provided.

Join the Crochet Club for teens and adults! We'll be meeting twice a month on Mondays to work on crochet projects. All skill levels welcome! Supplies are provided for beginners.

Worry pets are small, weighted stuffed animals that you can create and find comfort in. Learn how to cut, sew, and fill your own worry pet! All materials are provided.

The Friends Book and Bake Sale will be Saturday, April 27th, from 10:00am to 3:00pm in the Community Room. As always, we welcome your baked goodies.

Please drop off at the library between 2:00 and 4:00pm on Friday, April 26th, or at 10:00am on Saturday, the 27th. Thanks for your support of the Friends of Tiverton Libraries!

Please note that we are not accepting book donations at this time for our April Book Sale, as we are currently working to reduce inventory.

However, we continue to accept small donations (one bag or small box per library visit) at our very popular Book Nook. Children's books are particularly needed for our Specials Table.

Union Public Library is sharing free seeds in April.



Please stop by the Union Public Library during the hours of operation and pick up a few packets of free seeds.

The Free Seed Program is possible due to the generosity of the Ocean State Job Lot (OSJL) Charitable Foundation, which donates still-viable seeds from OSJL stores to the URI Cooperative Extension annually.

The Union Public Library Book Group will meet on Thursday, April 18th, at 1:00pm at the Union Library and will discuss Lazy B: Growing Up on a Cattle Ranch in the American Southwest by Sandra Day O'Connor and H. Alan Day. All are welcome!
