All Ages Welcome!
On Monday, April 8th, drop in between 1:00 and 4:00pm to celebrate this “totality awesome” event at the library.
Tiverton is in the 90% range with the partial eclipse starting at 2:14pm and ending at 4:39pm. The official NASA broadcast will be on the big screen for safe sun viewing. Borrow a pair of solar eclipse glasses or a pinhole projector if you wish to view the event outside. Light eclipse-themed refreshments will be served. All ages are welcome.
Please note: We do not have enough glasses for everyone who attends the event to have a pair, but we will have glasses and pinhole projectors that attendees may share amongst each other.

United Way 211 Van - A Free, Confidential Resource | |

America and the Holocaust: Jim Crow Laws, Eugenics, and the March Toward Genocide in Nazi-Occupied Europe |

This presentation provides a case study examining Nazi Germany and the United States during the 1930s, at a time when racism and eugenics were enshrined in law and practice. We will examine the national and historical contexts in which racism manifested in the two countries, and explore how the pseudoscience of eugenics as well as concerns about "racial purity" found its way into the laws of the United States and Nazi Germany. Presented by Barbara Wahlberg from the Rhode Island Holocaust and Genocide Education Commission.

Art House Film Night: Origami in the Park |

Join us on the third Tuesday of every month for a screening of a contemporary feature film or documentary and discussion focusing on artists, designers, photographers, and other creative fields. Presented in partnership with the Tiverton Arts Council.
This month, we will watch and discuss Origami in the Garden (2021; Not Rated; 1h, 30min) – an art film, a love story, and the journey of two artists as they strive to spread peace and inspiration throughout the world through sculpture. Popcorn and drinks will be provided.

Union Public Library is sharing free seeds in April.
Please stop by the Union Public Library during the hours of operation and pick up a few packets of free seeds.
The Free Seed Program is possible due to the generosity of the Ocean State Job Lot (OSJL) Charitable Foundation, which donates still-viable seeds from OSJL stores to the URI Cooperative Extension annually.
