The event coincided with the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort, which launched “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” in October 2021 to mark the resort’s 50th year.

Kayaking inspires Boston Globe article and hope for Alewife region | |
Global Field Program graduate student Greg Harris of Cambridge, Massachusetts, paddled by graffiti and shopping carts while kayaking the 1.6 miles of Alewife Brook, an unusual venture given it's surrounded by industry and highways. Harris wrote about the experience for Boston Globe magazine.
"The Alewife region, in short, became marginal, post-industrial land, up for grabs by commercial developers and transportation planners," he writes. Sewage and stormwater runoff make up the bulk of Alewife’s pollution sources. "Yet there’s reason to hope that things can change." Read more

Miami graduate student Amy Castaneda, pictured here, was one of three Dragonfly students awarded Dragonfly's inaugural Inquiry, Community, Voice Scholarship (ICV). The scholarship supports students who are committed to furthering the fields of inclusion, diversity, environmental justice, and other related fields using innovative and relevant approaches to conservation.
Thanks to everyone who made a #MoveInMiami donation in support of our program-wide commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Thanks to your generosity, we can continue to support students like Amy who worked this summer to help launch a conservation campaign for Imago, a Cincinnati-based, urban nature organization. One of last year's winners was Miami University AIP graduate student Heidi Edwards with this amazing photo of a pollen-covered bee on an echinacea plant in Oakwood, Ohio. As part of her Plants & People course, Edwards, who participates in experiential learning and field study through Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, planted flowers in her backyard and kept a photo log of pollinator interactions.
