Wine Of The Week

Hello Klaus,

Starting out the "New Year" with one of our top sellers of the past 20 years:

The Anton Bauer Ried Gmirk Grüner Veltliner

The 2016 was the last vintage we sold it as Gmörk and in 2017 this wine was upgraded to the best value single-vineyard wine on the market to Ried Gmirk.

Ried Gösinger Gmirk

Middle High German for district, municipal boundary:

The Riede (single vineyard) Gösinger Gmirk is located between the cellar lanes of Feuersbrunn and Fels and has a southern exposure at the foot of the Hengstberg. The deep loess soils form one of the classic Gösinger Grüner Veltliner sites. We also cultivate our Pinot Noir here with finesse and not too high a degree of ripeness. The vineyards are flatter and a little colder due to the less intense sunlight. At the same time, the location is relatively exposed to the wind, which is an advantage with Grüner Veltliner and Pinot Noir, as the grapes always dry quickly and there is no rot.

"The wines bring more minerality and also noticeably more acid - this is how a peppery Grüner Veltliner and our Pinot Noir are created, in which not pure power but finesse and spicy aromas are in the foreground".

Anton Bauer

Aromatic on the nose, a beautiful play of perfume, tropical fruit, and acidity. All the aromas follow through on the palate and then the wine has a dry clean finish with a touch of the white pepper.

This is a great vegetarian dish wine, it goes well with Asian food, any fried dishes like Wiener Schnitzel and salads.
