This week we're presenting Studio Place Arts, Arts League of Lowell and the South Shore Arts Center.


Each year the gallery and museum communities across New England put on beloved and anticipated annual exhibitions. This week, see three of many annual and biennial shows on display throughout the region, from sculpture to photography to works in pastel.

Rock Solid XXIII at Studio Place Arts

Studio Place Arts presents Rock Solid XXIII, its 23rd annual stone sculpture exhibit. This year's exhibition features the work of 20 New England artists who have created a variety of stone artwork and assemblages. Each work highlights the unique qualities of stone as a medium. The gallery is open Wednesday to Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Studio Place Arts is located at 201 N. Main Street, Barre, VT. Exposed 2023 at Arts League of Lowell

Arts League of Lowell presents Exposed 2023, a biannual exhibition that highlights photography submitted by regional artists. With subjects ranging from architecture to animals, works in this exhibit show the full range of photography. The gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m. Arts League of Lowell is located at 307 Market Street, Lowell, MA. For more information, please visit here.

Signature Strokes at South Shore Arts Center

South Shore Arts Center presents its biennial juried exhibition, Signature Strokes, in collaboration with the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod and juror Lisa Flynn. This show features pastel artwork of everything from natural scenes of plants, water and delicate flowers to subjects including men at work repairing a city street and the rough moorings of a ship. The gallery is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. South Shore Arts Center is located at 119 Ripley Road, Cohasset, MA. For more information, please visit here.

The Mosesian Center for the Arts is excited to hold its very first Holiday Makers Market! Help us make it a holiday tradition!


We invite artists working in ceramics, jewelry, printmaking, painting, illustration, fine arts, fiber, metals, glass, and mixed media to apply.


Display and sell your work at our beautiful gallery and performance spaces! This event will include entertainment and food!


Due to space constraints this will be a juried call.

The Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth, presents  Kent Monkman: The Great Mystery featuring a new body of paintings by Cree artist Kent Monkman — including two commissioned works for the Hood Museum of Art’s permanent collections — The Great Mystery serves as both an introduction to and a revisitation of Monkman’s early interest in abstract expressionism. 


The museum is open Wednesday,

11 a.m. - 5 p.m. | Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. | Saturday, 1 - 5 p.m.

De Menil Gallery Groton School

Groton School’s de Menil Gallery will kick off its 2023–24 season with Boston photographer Lou Jones’ panAFRICAproject through Nov. 12, in Groton, MA. 


A special reception with the artist is scheduled for Oct. 2 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the gallery.


The mission of panAFRICAproject is to create a contemporary visual portrait of modern Africa.  Using photography and heretofore unavailable technologies, the intention is to establish a repository of images that represents each of the fifty-four individual countries devoid of the preconceived western notions of distress: conflict, pestilence and poverty.
