Finding Strength in Community:

The Parents' Network Provides Support, Resources, and Advocacy.

Too many children, youth and families are exposed to social media harm. PS MHTTC has been amplifying national trends, emerging research, and field learning about the impact of social media use on youth mental health (see Social Media & Youth: Perils, Powers, and Pathways to Resilience).

We’re moved to share a new invaluable resource: The Parents’ Network (TPN), a powerful new initiative from the Archewell Foundation, founded by Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

For the past year, in partnership with The Archewell Foundation and others, the Center for Applied Research Solutions (CARS, PS MHTTC’s parent organization) has been working behind the scenes on this crucial project to build a safe and supportive space for parents and caregivers whose children have experienced internet harm.

As of August 4, 2024, the community is open to any parent or caregiver whose child has been harmed by social media in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

CARS is proud to be a key partner in this vital work, providing programming design expertise, facilitation, resourcing, and fostering parents’ peer support and leadership in their bereavement, trauma recovery, and life after loss.

If you are a provider or a behavioral health professional, TPN can serve as a valuable resource for your clients to find grief-sensitive, trauma-informed programming and support for the impacts of online harm.

If you are a parent or caregiver whose child has experienced internet harm, TPN offers a space where you can talk openly and build meaningful relationships with others who understand your experiences.

The Parents’ Network is a no-cost, private community for parents and caregivers bound by shared experiences of social media harms and focused on collective healing. Together, we are working to equip families with safe, intimate spaces where anyone in need can talk openly with others who’ve been there. By supporting one another, and elevating our voices, we will work to ensure no other family experiences what we have.

TPN members can:

  • Connect with fellow parents navigating similar experiences in small, peer-led groups
  • Attend monthly learning spaces, led by experts and peers in relevant fields
  • Connect to a virtual community, where stories, resources, and ideas are shared with fellow parents
  • Learn about ongoing resources and advocacy opportunities

TPN is a global community for parents and caregivers who have been impacted by social media online harm. Working to unite and uplift parents and caregivers, and to systematically change the social media platforms and devices that create a harmful environment for young people around the world, TPN won’t stop fighting for change until social media companies make their platforms safer by design, because one child lost is already too many.
