NOVO NORDISK DONNELLY SCHOLARSHIP IS A NEW OPPORTUNITY PROVIDED BY THE USTA FOUNDATION TO SUPPORT YOUTH TENNIS PLAYERS

Accepting applications through May 1, 2021
The Novo Nordisk Donnelly Scholarship is a new opportunity from the USTA Foundation to provide scholarships to support youth tennis players.  The 2021 program will grant a total of $60,000 in scholarships, including two one-time $10,000 national scholarships and eight $5,000 regional scholarships. The scholarships will be awarded to high school student-athletes who have excelled in academics and tennis, and have strong leadership and community involvement skills.

The Novo Nordisk Donnelly Scholarship was established by Billie Jean King in 1998 to encourage children to lead an active life and compete in tennis

"USTA Foundation's new Donnelly Scholarship is a big step toward expanding the reach of this important program and will continue to facilitate our efforts to provide scholarships to students who play tennis and live with diabetes," King said.

Applications for the 2021 Novo Nordisk Donnelly Scholarship are currently being accepted and must be received by May 1, 2021, along with two letters of recommendation and a short essay on how tennis and diabetes have impacted the applicant's life.  The scholarship funds are to be used for education, educational materials, and other related expenses at the college or university the student selects.

The Novo Nordisk Donnelly Scholarship is named after two collegiate tennis champions, Diane Donnelly Stone and Tracey Donnelly Maltby, who are sisters. Stone was an All-American and NCAA doubles champion at Northwestern University, and Maltby earned All-Big Ten honors at the University of Iowa. Both women have lived successfully with diabetes since childhood.
