SC/LCO EDC Spring Updates
Looking into "Spring!"

Over the past few months, we have had several great events to bring professionalism and mentorship to our area. We hosted three Business Boosts with Andy Donahue from the Small Business Development Center at UW Superior. Several Sawyer County Businesses took advantage of an hour with Andy! He is interested in doing more-- so watch for more Business Boost opportunities!

Our first Sawyer County Social at Big Fish Golf Club went well! Almost 20 people joined us to learn about Entrepreneurship with Andy Donahue. The series continues on April 11 at Anglers Bar & Grill and then on May 16.

I received a general letter from Missy Hughes, CEO of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation and it will be great to share some WEDC accomplishments. For 2022 the WEDC reported accomplishments including:
  • Stimulating businesses to fill 8,500+ vacant storefronts in all 72 counties through the $100 million Main Street Bounceback program;
  • Addressing local workforce needs by investing $128 million in the Workforce Innovation Grant program;
  • Focusing on our entrepreneurs, including more than 800 startup businesses that in 2021 reported creating 6,700 jobs, $495 million in revenue, and $766 million in new funding;
  • Helping our businesses be prepared to compete in the global marketplace, including hosting six WEDC trade ventures in 2022 and assisting Wisconsin companies in boosting exports by nearly 12%.

We hope to continue sharing business opportunities and programs to help our businesses here in Sawyer County thrive!

See you Soon,

Kate
