Announcing the 2024 Developmental Editing Fellows

We are pleased to announce the 2024 Developmental Editing Fellows. From over seven hundred applications for the fellowship, we selected fellows in three genres: in fiction, Hilary Sun will work with Associate Editor Sergei Lobanov-Rostovsky on Lateral Curvatures, a novel; in nonfiction, Edmée Lepercq will work with Senior Editor Katharine Weber on Germination Protocol, an essay collection; and in poetry, Logan Klutse will work with Editor Nicole Terez Dutton on “For an Eye”: The Intersections of Medical Malpractice, West African Immigrant Patients, and Black Diasporic Faith Practices, a book of poetry. These writers will receive one-on-one mentorship and editorial attention for their works in progress over a period of four months. Learn more about the fellows below.

Summer Online Adult Writers Workshop Applications Now Open

Applications for Summer Online Adult Writers Workshops have opened and close on April 12! Designed for writers who can’t take time off for a residential workshop, these online programs offer a single intensive week of generative writing workshops. Both workshops run June 24–29, 2024, with a welcome hour on June 23 at 3:00 pm ET.

Beginning on Monday, June 24, Genre-Specific Summer Online Adult Workshops participants will attend workshops 1:00–4:00 pm each day. Workshops will involve discussion of assigned reading, sharing individual writing, workshopping each other’s writing, and writing in response to prompts. Faculty includes Heather Christle, Davon Loeb, and Rebecca McClanahan in nonfiction, E.J. Levy, Robert Lopez, DK Nnuro, A.E. Osworth, Nick White, and Ada Zhang in fiction, and Ruth Awad, Victoria Chang, Tyree Daye, Jesse Nathan, Shelley Wong, and Felicia Zamora in poetry, Christian Gullette, Cindy Juyoung Ok, and Kelsi Vanada in translation. The translation workshop is for the “translation curious”—no need ever to have translated before! Learn more on our site and apply here.

Instructed by T Clark and Brad Richard, the Summer Online Writers Workshop for Teachers takes place daily, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm ET. Like the genre-specific workshops, these sessions will involve discussion of assigned reading, sharing individual writing, workshopping each other’s writing, and writing in response to prompts; geared toward middle and high school teachers, they will also involve the collection of best writing practices to take back to the classroom.
