Details of Judging Criteria:
Presentation/Oral Delivery:
- How logical are the ideas presented in the poster
- How interesting is the manner of presentation
- Are higher level clinical reasoning or medical decision making evident from the presentation
- How well is the teaching value stated
- Presentation orderly and clear
- Teaches in a memorable way
Significance:
- How significant or relevant is the presentation conclusion in increasing understanding of a disease process
- How applicable is the subject to the audience
- Uncommon diagnosis that highlights interesting pathophysiology
- Important new diagnosis/treatment that should change practice for many
Interview:
- How knowledgeable and conversant is the presenting author with the work presented
- Answers questions correctly and expands understanding of the case and/or highlights broader implications of the question
Visual Impact:
- How effective is the presentation visually
- How valuable is each figure and graph in furthering viewer understanding of the subject
- Layout and text are complete, concise, self-explanatory, and convey the case
Originality:
- Is the clinical question outdated or moot?
- Study addresses a new and exciting question
- Creative approach to a novel question
Logic & Clinical Reasoning:
- How logical are the ideas presented in this presentation
- How interesting is the manner of the presentation
- Are higher level clinical reasoning or medical decision making evident from the prepared remarks
- How well is the teaching value stated
Methods:
- How suitable is the research design for the stated objectives
- How appropriate are statistical techniques applied
- Methods and statistics are perfectly matched to the question and setting
