We are delighted to announce the selection of the Newton (MA) Public Schools as our inaugural Vanguard District. The distinction is designed to recognize and deepen the school district’s work in diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly to support the development and success of boys and young men of color. Through the multi-year partnership, educators and leaders in the Newton Public Schools will engage deeply with the COSEBOC team, beginning this school year.
Appreciation for our Community of Educators
By Liz Murray
As the 2023-24 school year comes to an end, we are sending care, respect and tremendous appreciation to our community of COSEBOC educators.

“In our conversations with the COSEBOC community of educators across the nation, we hear and applaud your commitment to supporting the academic, social and emotional needs of boys and young men of color. Whether in Cleveland, Cambridge, Montclair, Austin, Portland, Newton, Philadelphia, Chicago, NYC, Chapel Hill/Carrboro or Boston, the COSEBOC network is and has been rising to meet the challenges of racial injustice and inequities in our schools. We see you working relentlessly to affirm the strengths of the boys and young men and to provide the connection, community and support that they deserve each and every day…”

COSEBOC Partners & Supporters
In this Open Letter, Rooted Change—the newest initiative created by (COSEBOC friends and colleagues) The Moriah Group—is expressing its solidarity with Tennessee State Representatives Justin J. Pearson and Justin Jones, who were expelled from the House of Representatives over their protest against gun violence. They have since been reinstated, but we affirm their unequivocal right to fight for racial justice and gun reform.
