Small Business Resource from DEED

The meeting, which is the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 2:00 p.m., is an opportunity for small business owners to have a conversation with business experts and their peers.

The next call/Teams meeting, will be on Tuesday, December 12th, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. One topic for December will be about the Employer Reasonable Accommodation Fund (ERAF) where small to mid-sized Minnesota employers can request reimbursement for expenses related to providing reasonable accommodations for job applicants and employees with disabilities.



The other topic will a discussion of the Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) program managed by the MN Dept. of Labor & Industry. You may submit a question ahead of time by contacting Mark.Simmer@state.mn.us.

We won an award!

At last week’s Board of Education Meeting our Community Education Department's collaboration with the Lakeville Chamber of Commerce called Treats, Trades & Tours was recognized with a Minnesota Community Education Association (MCEA) Project Award!  Annette Sallman, MCEA Board Member (left) presented the Project Award. Receiving the award on behalf of the District and Chamber were:

•         Krista Jech - Lakeville Chamber of Commerce President (2nd from left)

•         Pam McNutt - Community Education Enrichment Coordinator (3rd)

•         Cindy Nolan - Business Education Teacher at LNHS and Pathways Online (4th)

•         Megan Reese - Treats, Trades & Tours Club Advisor and English Teacher at KTMS (5th)

•         Steve Porter - Lakeville Area Schools Community Education Director (right)


Treats, Trades & Tours Middle School Career Club

This unique opportunity provides students in grades 6-8 with hands-on exposure to various in-demand careers while having lively, positive interactions with local business professionals. Students traveled around the City of Lakeville visiting local businesses while learning and participating in activities that got their imaginations soaring about their own futures. This club was made possible through the collaborative support of the Lakeville Area Schools Community Education Department and the Lakeville Chamber of Commerce Lakeville Works program.
