Chester County Youth Center needs donations - click here for items needed.

Next week September 22nd is the last day to donate items for the Chester County Youth Center.  As a reminder of what is needed please refer to Friday's Constant contact as well as the insert in the bulletin. A bin has been set up in the coat room to place your donations.

And don't forget that next Sunday, during Faith Formation, Matt Howard, Program Coordinator for the CCYC will give a presentation so we can learn more about the youth center and its mission. He will be available to answer questions as well.

Downingtown CROP Hunger walk will be held on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 2 pm. We will start at Central Presbyterian Church in Downingtown, walking along the Struble Trail. Join this worthy cause by registering to walk as an individual or donate at www.CROPHungerwalk/downingtown.org. Donations benefit local, national, and international organizations fighting food insecurity. Canned goods will be collected at the walk as well. If you have any questions, contact Sue Thomas at missionandoutreach@grovechurch.org

Join us on Tuesday, September 24th from 1:00 – 3:00 pm in Asbury Hall

We will be making Origami flying cranes. We need a count of friends that are coming.

You may come at the last minute. We will donate some to Meals on Wheels.

All supplies are provided, please let us know.

Thank you to Kathy Hoffmaster for leading this craft.

Please RSVP to Nancy Peterka or the church office.

The Grove Drama Ministry is hard at work getting their production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” ready for the stage.

You probably noticed the staging being used if you’ve been in Asbury Hall recently. This minimal design allows us to have a theater-in-the-round and allows for the actors to get closer to the audience.

We still need your help! We have two opportunities for donations:

Our Amazon Wishlist allows the purchase of various items needed for the production, costumes, etc. Any items that are purchased will be mailed directly to the church.

Our Make It Happen! fundraiser allows for monetary donations for things like “costuming the cast”, “renting the script”, and “choreographing a dance”. All transactions are handled by our ticketing partner, On The Stage.

Tickets are $10 and are on sale now. Seats can be reserved at https://our.show/grovedramaministry. Need help purchasing tickets? Kelly Yarnall will be available to help on Sunday morning.

Performances:

Friday, October 4 at 7 pm

Saturday, October 5 at 7 pm

Sunday, October 6 at 2 pm

"Our Journey of Hope (R) Cancer Care Ministry at Grove seeks to serve persons impacted by cancer (people who have cancer, their loved ones, family & close friends, and caregivers) and to create a point of connection between the church and the community that extends the love of God with grace and hope. Toward that end, OJOH at GUMC is supporting the American Cancer Society (ACS) Relay for Life of Chester County, PA, again this year. There are several ways that you can help support this cause as well:

Join our Relay team and come walk with us! The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 28th from 3 pm to 9 pm at 220 Valley Creek Blvd., Exton, PA.

Make a financial donation - even small amounts are appreciated.

To join our team or make a donation, visit http://main.acsevents.org/goto/OJOHatGUMC.

Contact OurJourneyOfHope@grovechurch.org with questions."

The Good Works Ministry Matching Gift Challenge continues through the end of October. Thank you to everyone who’s supported this fundraising effort so far. Your generosity helps our volunteers repair homes and restore hope for low-income families here in Chester County.

Help to keep the momentum going! Generous Grove donors have pledged to match your donations to help us reach our goal of $12,500. Don’t wait. Make your donation today! Checks should be made payable to Grove UMC with “Good Works Fund” in the memo line. Thank you.

Volunteers needed to head up the Toy Sale on Oct 26th through Oct 30th. Volunteers will clean, price, sell, pack up, and deliver unsold toys. If interested, please contact Denny Scheffler or the Church Office for details.

CHRISTMAS CARDS FOR PEOPLE IN PRISON

Once again our conference Prison Ministry and Restorative Justice Team is asking congregants and community members around eastern PA to share God's love with those who are incarcerated this year at Christmas.

It's easy to do - just write a brief encouraging message on cards that are supplied, and sign your first name. Cards will be available at Grove Church on Sunday mornings, and packets of cards can be obtained from the labeled tote outside the front door of the church. Completed cards need to be returned to the "completed cards" bag in the tote before Monday, November 4.

Your participation can mean a lot to those who receive the cards, who are otherwise feeling very isolated and alone. Thank you for your ministry to those who are incarcerated!

Questions? Contact Deacon Marilyn at DeaconMarilyn@GroveChurch.org
