AND THE FITBIT WINNER IS...
Lois Hatch! Long time library patron and marathon runner! Lois just finished her 5th marathon up near Lubec, Maine, in time to come back home to pick up her new Fitbit and a new tattoo as well (a post marathon tradition).
We raised a net of $213 with this raffle. This was one of our "lesser income" raffles but we will be able to purchase more than 15 new books with this! And we made one patron, Lois, very, very happy!

LITERARY TEA with Wendy Sand Eckel
|
LITERARY TEA with mystery author Wendy Sand Eckel on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 4 pm at the Cranmore Inn.
She's back! We were delighted to discuss Wendy's debut mystery with her last year and we get the pleasure again this year when we'll catch up on all that has happened in Barclay Meadow.
Wendy is the author of the Rosalie Hart Mystery Series set on Maryland's Eastern Shore, a cozy mystery series with to-die-for recipes and small-town charm.
Rosalie Hart had finally opened the café of her dreams. Decked out with ochre-tinted walls and stuffed with delicious organic fare, the Day Lily Café is everything Rosalie could have hoped for. But not five minutes into the grand opening, Doris Bird, a dear and trusted friend, cashes in on a favor - to help clear her little sister of a first degree murder charge. With the help of her best friend and head waiter Glenn, Rosalie is on the case. But it's not going to be easy. Unlikable and provocative, murder victim Carl James Fiddler seems to have insulted nearly everyone in Cardigan, and the suspect list grows daily. And when Rosalie's daughter Annie gets caught in the crossfire, the search for the killer becomes personal.
Degrees in criminology and social work, followed by years of clinical practice, helped Wendy explore her fascination with how relationships impact motivation, desire and inhibition. Combined with her passion for words and meaning, writing mystery is a dream realized. She lives in Maryland where she enjoys family and friends, two cats, and living near the Chesapeake Bay.
She comes to North Conway to visit her sister, former bookstore employee Stacy Sand (which is why we are so lucky!)

The North Conway Public Library will be open Tuesday and Saturday mornings during the summer & fall!
The Library is changing its hours in response to a recent patron survey.
Beginning Saturday, June 18, the library will be open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Due to budget limitations, the library will be closed on Mondays.
Library Director Andrea Masters said it was a difficult decision to close the library on Mondays but a necessary one based on funding in order to keep the total number of hours the same.
"In a perfect world with unlimited resources we'd be open mornings and weekends and Mondays, but since we are a privately funded library, money for us is especially tight. We needed to stay budget-neutral," she said. "We are sorry for any inconvenience the Monday closings may cause our patrons."
The change in hours will continue through the summer and early fall and will be re-evaluated by the staff and board of trustees in late October.
The Library is still looking for volunteers who could help on Saturdays and Tuesday mornings. If you are interested in helping out- either on a regular basis or intermittently, please contact Martha at

The North Conway Public Library is a privately funded library.
We look and act like a public library but we receive no public funding-
no money from the town of Conway, the State of NH, or the federal government.
We must raise 100% of our operating budget each year.
Hence, we depend on your donations, our corporate sponsors and our fundraising programs!
Without your support we could not be free and open to the public. Thank you!
