During this critical period, the Conservancy is continuing its urgent search for a new home for the ship, an effort that began long before the recent litigation. As you know, relocating a ship the size and age of the SS United States is complex and costly, and piers able to physically accommodate the vessel are very limited.
Because of these challenges and our short timeline, the Conservancy is responsibly preparing for all scenarios, including reefing or recycling the SS United States. We understand how stressful this situation is for our community, and we encourage you to visit the Frequently Asked Questions section of our website, where we provide additional background on our ongoing efforts.
We also remain deeply committed to our ongoing curatorial and educational mission. Your continued support has helped us build a major museum collection of original artwork, fixtures, archival documentation and historic components from the SS United States.
When the SS United States has faced imminent danger before, the ship’s supporters from across the country and around the world have stepped up to save her from destruction. We know we can do it again. With your continued support, we remain even more determined to save America’s Flagship.
