Sen Monorom is primarily a destination for nature enthusiasts. It has also experienced some changes recently. While the pandemic affected the restaurant scene, there are still some coffee shops and eateries catering to Western tastes, especially for breakfast and local restaurants with various offerings.
On the hotel front, there has been significant growth in the hillside areas surrounding the city, driven by the local travel trend on nature destinations like Mondulkiri and Koh Kong provinces. While some resorts cater exclusively to locals, many have faced challenges due to the pandemic, leaving some unfinished projects and deteriorating resorts. However, we saw a few hotels that we can confidently recommend our clients.
For activities, beyond the incredible elephant experiences and must-visit attractions like the Bousra Waterfall, Sen Monorom Waterfall, and the local coffee and pepper plantations, the Mondulkiri/Sen Monorom region offers potential for hiking and trekking adventures. The Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary, located approximately 90 km outside Sen Monorom. Here, you can embark on a real jungle trek, complete with overnight stays in makeshift jungle camps.
