Good afternoon.

As part of our commitment to openly sharing important information with our school parents, we wanted to make you aware of an incident that occurred today involving a possible threat posted on social media against North Royalton Middle School.  Upon learning this information, we immediately began to investigate and alerted the North Royalton Police Department. The Police Department has determined there is no real danger to anyone at North Royalton Middle School or any of our buildings.

I want to commend the students and parents who came forward with this information, which allowed us to be proactive in dealing with this situation and to maintain a safe, secure school environment.  We take any and all threats seriously.  We also thank the North Royalton Police Department for their quick handling of this situation.

North Royalton Police will have a presence at NRMS at the start of the day to help assure students and staff that all is well.

We ask for your help in continuing to take an active role in talking with your children and monitoring their activities on social media and cell phones.  We believe the majority of our students make good choices and will encourage them to continue to do so.

It is through cooperation and communication that we are able to keep students and staff safe. If you or your student(s) ever have a safety concern, we continue to encourage it to be reported to a teacher, staff member or any administrator.

Thank you and have a good evening.

Sincerely,

Greg Gurka
Superintendent
North Royalton City Schools
