The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry and boy did they today. Today was the start of the Fall Book Sale and the 1st day of voting for the Chase Community Giving Grants. Neither event went as expected. Due to delays in construction and the need to have Main Street ready for Succasunna Day, the town closed the library's driveways prior to the start of the sale. While we tried to scramble to provide alternate parking, the confusion and traffic jam on Main Street caused many of you to skip the Friends Preview night. We apologize to those of you who attempted to get to the sale. The town addressed the situation and did get the parking lot open an hour into the sale. The parking lot will be open for Friday night.
We hope to see you at the sale Friday night and over the weekend for Suckasunny Day and Bag Day.
If that wasn't bad enough, those of you who tried to help us virtually had your own headaches. Accessing the voting fan page was rough going for most of the day. Many Friends, including myself encountered blank screens and timeout errors while attempting to vote for the Friends on the Chase Community Giving fan page and the Chase website. Chase is working to address the problems. Chase Community Giving posted the following on their Facebook page "The response to this year's program is overwhelming! While we are very excited about all of this activity, the traffic is making it difficult for some people to cast their votes. Not to worry, we are actively working to resolve this issue, so please be patient. Please stay tuned for an update." Again we apologize to all Roxbury library supporters and hope you will still vote for us.
Please take time to try vote again. Voting continues until September 19.
