The Zoetis Foundation/Dr. Catherine A. Knupp Scholarship

The American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges is pleased to announce the 2024 The Zoetis Foundation/AAVMC Dr. Catherine A. Knupp Scholarship opportunity.

Named for Catherine A. Knupp DVM, MS, who led the Zoetis Veterinary Medical Research and Development organization for many years. This scholarship commemorates Dr. Knupp's many contributions to scientific innovation as a veterinary scientist and leader in human and animal health research and development.

Two $25,000 scholarships will be awarded to veterinary students who aspire to pursue an advanced degree in basic or veterinary clinical research fields of study.

The application process closes February 12, 2024 at 11:59pm EST. All applications must be fully submitted by February 12th to qualify. Learn more and submit applications here.

2024 Diversity Leadership Scholarships available

AAVMC will again offer Diversity Leadership Scholarships in partnership with Merck Animal Health.

The application process closes January 15, 2024, at 11:59pm EST. All applications must be fully submitted by January 15th to qualify. Learn more and submit applications here.

2024 Chewy Scholarship

AAVMC has partnered with Chewy Health, the dedicated healthcare arm of Chewy, to provide $300,000 in scholarships to underserved veterinary students. The Chewy Veterinary Leaders Program will reward fifteen third-year students with a $20,000 scholarship paid directly to their educational institution via the AAVMC. The program looks to help increase representation within the veterinary profession by working with individuals from underserved groups and communities who might otherwise have limited access to these types of resources.

This opportunity is open to qualified students at U.S. AAVMC Member Institutions. Applications can be submitted here and are due 1/15/24 by 11:59 EST.

Call for AAVMC Committees

AAVMC is currently seeking volunteers to fill vacancy positions on multiple committees. Volunteering is your opportunity to help shape the future of veterinary medical education! Any employee of an AAVMC member institution is eligible to serve unless otherwise indicated. Some committees may be limited to Full Members only and will be specified on the sign up form.

If you are interested in being a volunteer, please review the open AAVMC volunteer opportunities. All committee members are appointed by the AAVMC President and commit to three years commencing after the April Annual Conference. Learn more about AAVMC Committees here

Please submit your application and supporting documents using the link associated with the committee below by January 31, 2024.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in academic veterinary medicine is a core value for the AAVMC. We welcome and encourage the nomination, including self-nomination, of members of the AAVMC community from underrepresented and/or otherwise marginalized communities for open committee positions.

If further information is warranted, please reach out to Monique Pierce, Member Engagement Manager at mpierce@aavmc.org. Please note the opportunity close date so that you do not miss a chance to be considered.

The AAVMC is working hard to create a culture of diversity and inclusion in every dimension of academic veterinary medicine. To foster this goal, the photographs and illustrations which are used in our communications programs are aspirational, and do not necessarily reflect the levels of diversity and inclusion that currently exist.
