American Airlines Begins Nonstop Service Between Chicago O'Hare and Dusseldorf, Germany

CHICAGO, April 11, 2013 -- American Airlines today launched new daily service to Dusseldorf, Germany, from its hub at Chicago O'Hare International Airport. The new flight, operated with a Boeing 767-300 aircraft with 28 Business Class seats and 184 Main Cabin seats, offers O'Hare travelers the opportunity to conveniently fly to Germany and to nearby Belgium and the Netherlands. Dusseldorf is American's 19th international destination served from Chicago O'Hare.

 

The inaugural flight from Chicago to Dusseldorf was celebrated this afternoon with a reception and ribbon cutting at O'Hare International Airport.

"We are very excited to be offering this new route to one of Europe's premier business destinations," said Tedeschi. "This new route augments our existing European service from Chicago and the route launched recently by our oneworld� and codeshare partner, airberlin, from O'Hare to Berlin. Having two new fights to Germany is a win-win for Chicago business and leisure travelers."

 

Andolino added, "The ability to reach foreign markets with direct flights has a profound effect on our economy. It represents a great opportunity to grow business and tourism. In fact, the annual economic impact to the Chicago area from this new service is estimated at $125 million. This service will further enhance strong business connections between Germany and Chicago. Germany is a top investor in our city. There are about 200 Germany-based companies in the Chicago area at 500 locations."

 

Daily ORD-DUS Service Schedule:

 

AA 242

  • Departs ORD at 3:35 p.m.
  • Arrives at DUS at 7:00 a.m. the following day

AA 241

  • Departs DUS at 9:45 a.m.
  • Arrives at ORD at 12:05 p.m.

 

From Chicago, American flies to London, Manchester, Dublin, Paris, Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo, and seasonally to Rome and Helsinki in Europe, as well as Montego Bay, Jamaica. Additionally, American and American Eagle offer nonstop service to three cities in Canada and four cities in Mexico. From O'Hare, American, American Eagle and the American Connection carrier offer more than 460 daily departures.
