Message from the Executive Director | | |

Dear Members
I have enjoyed very much the first 4 weeks as your ED and have participated in as many events as possible to get to know you as well as the issues and interests of our membership. I am a firm believer that AmCham exists to serve its membership. We are an independent organization that serves its members interests in Vietnam and those interests cover meeting the challenges of doing business and living a healthy and productive life in Vietnam. AmCham is your tool to expand your knowledge of the business environment in Vietnam and expand your connections with those of like mind. I am most interested to meet you and learn about how we can serve you better, especially in the new era of the “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership”. Our members are a cross section of businesses and individuals from many countries including Vietnam companies and individuals. We share a common value and that is to promote trade and investment ties between Vietnam and the United States.
Over the last 4 weeks we have had meetings with the government authorities in HCMC who encourage AmCham to share its ideas on how HCMC can improve its infrastructure and logistics, healthcare system, education system and even turn HCMC into an international financial center to mention a few. We have also been asked by Hanoi government to support the effort to upgrade Vietnam to a market economy, which will bring further benefits to the country and our members. Presently, Vietnam is on a “non market economy list” which dates back many years. It's time to update this status. We will be reaching out to members for their views and opinions on this important issue.
Please follow the upcoming events which may be most interesting. Some of our signature events will be happening in the coming weeks, especially the Governor’s Ball which is our main fundraiser for the AmCham Scholarships. We expect to see good activity on new memberships and I anticipate much interest from entrepreneurs looking to start new businesses as we respond to the opportunities in the digital economy. It's a good time to be an innovator and an entrepreneur. Thanks for your participation in AmCham events.

Apparel and footwear factory executives, directors, managers and their leadership teams come together in Vietnam to engage with the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) for presentations discussing compliance. The 10th annual AmCham Breakfast with Santa will be held this year on December 10, from 9:00am to 12:30pm at the InterContinental Saigon. The event is designed for families to celebrate Christmas together, and bring some Christmas joy into other’s lives.
Sponsorship and a portion of every adult ticket sold will help fund the cost for over 30 Covid-19 orphans from the Care to Rise Program.
