This Is Your Sign to Adopt Benign Indifference
I once did a happiness workshop for a light industrial company and asked employees to write down one thing that makes them happy on a Post-it note and stick on the wall. The overall most popular vote was “a sunny day”. Other brave and quirky offerings were FIFA, sex and Greggs!
So here we have mostly now outside our windows the top trump ingredient for happiness and I am urging you to give yourself permission to tune in. if you don’t like the heat then just find a lovely place – a park bench, a river view, or a tree you love and pull the plug on life.
This is officially your “I’m not bothered” self-care programme.
- Turn your face to the sun and let the shadows fall behind you.
- Actively decide that today is the day you enjoy life without anxiety.
- Unhook from what people think of you (it’s none of your business anyway)
- Feeling you always have to be doing something.
- Drop the feeling you haven’t done enough. It’s never enough and the to-do list is eternal.
- Worrying. Always worrying. Stay in the now.
- Let the loveliness of the moment wash over you. No hooks, barbs or should’s.
- Avoid the news headlines.
- See all your fears, worries and duties put into a box, tie it up with wrapping paper and string and leave it at home.
- Enjoy the break that benign indifference can give you.
- Care less.
- Life carries on anyway so might as well make way-hey while the sun shines.
- Just be.
Blame me if you are struggling to let go of chronic responsibility and will find a little ignorance, for a while, can be bliss.
