This has been an exciting week for our seniors: Senior Prom, class picnic, Baccalaureate Mass, graduation pictures, and the Commencement Exercises on Saturday. The Class of 2014 has been saying good-bye. It is always sad to let them go off into the world of the unknown when you have had them so close for four years. But, they are ready! It is so rewarding to share in their excitement for this new chapter in their lives. Bishop McNamara has prepared them well. We have given them the tools to go after their dreams and goals. So, our hats off to the Class of 2014. Come home often.

Last call for the short Planning Survey, so please take it now. We value your feedback - whether you are an alum, parent, teacher or friend.

Enjoy this Mustang Minute. This email newsletter would not be possible without your input so send us your alumni news, announcements, reunion plans, and follow us on all our social media below. Stay connected to your BMHS and LRHS families!

Alumni Spotted on Campus
Welcome, Alums!

Guess who was spotted on campus recently?

Pictured here to the left with Mr. Herman Gloster '96 is Samantha Taylor '04. Thanks for coming by, Samantha.

We were so excited to see Toni Lee Aluisi LR '64 who came by to drop off scholarship information to President/CEO Marco Clark '85 for our students. Toni was recently co-chair of the 50th Class Reunion for the LRHS Class of 1964. She took a minute for a picture at Alumni Hall with Janice Conlon Cuellar LR '69. Thanks, Toni Lee.

Several La Reine grads stopped by to give their input on the future of BMHS. Two members of the La Reine Class of 1964 were here to speak with us, Nancy DeCesaris Maimone LR '64 (left) and Brenda Crupi Ferrante LR '64 (right), pictured here with fellow LR alum and Director of Web Communications, Janice Conlon Cuellar LR '69. We appreciate all their ideas and comments.

Alumni Careers
Angela Scimonelli Myers LR '76

La Reine alumna, Angela Scimonelli Myers LR '76, has spent a life devoted to the arts. She started at age five in dance and began at age 16 as a professional ballet dancer, performing throughout the United States and England. In addition, she has performed in operas, musicals, theater, designed costumes and choreographed.

Angela remembers her younger years and exposure to the arts at La Reine. " I had the great benefit of having Sr. Alexine as a teacher.  If anyone had the slightest bit of talent, she would insist they were in all the music programs and musicals.  She encouraged, prodded, insisted, mentored and practically kidnapped you if you were the slightest bit talented or showed some kind of interest.  She was a force of nature in that realm.  She was a very dear woman."

Currently a guest choreographer for Exit 12 Dance Company in New York, Angela recently presented a work dealing with soldiers and the families of soldiers, PTS and those left behind. Below are links to reviews of her work.

It is our hope to entice Angela to visit us for our Guest Artist Series through the Fine Arts Diploma Endorsement Program Colloquia Series.

Mrs. Duclos, a BMHS grad and member of the faculty for ten years, will become the new Principal at St. Mary's High School in Annapolis, Maryland.

Cultures Merge: Spain-USA exchange for BMHS needs host families

In early September of 2014 the Paz de Ziganda Ikastola (Basque school) in Pamplona (Navarra), Spain students and their teachers would like to come for about two weeks. As in years past, we anticipate needing some 30 families to host students.  During that time, they will live with BMHS families who will act as their hosts. Indeed, during that time they are a part of your family. We must have 20 more families by June or the program can not run this year, which would be sad for both communities. For more on this story, go to Cultures Merge.

BMHS Senior Awarded Joseph Ferrante Foundation Scholarship

Graduating senior Thomas Page '14 was a recipient of a $1,000 scholarship from the Joseph Ferrante Foundation.  This scholarship was awarded to students who gave so much time and talent back into their communities. Thomas was recognized for his selfless dedication to making the world a more positive place to live. Joseph Ferrante, a former BMHS Board Member and BMHS parent, who passed away in 2011, strongly believed in the idea that it is up to us to make our communities, churches, schools, and our country a better place. He was always looking for ways to give back, including coaching, assisting with the boys and girls club, school and church fundraising both personally and through his business, Nick's Supermarket in Clinton, Maryland. A firm believer in the philosophy of education at BMHS, he was father of Nick '84, Jean Marie LR '85 and John '87.
