CCDS InvenTeam at EurekaFest 2024
After a year of tremendous hard work, the CCDS InvenTeam traveled to MIT to present its patent-pending invention, IllumiLane, to improve road bicycle safety at EurekaFest 2024. Keep scrolling for highlights from the team's amazing week in Boston!
The first day of EurekaFest was a big team-building day for our students. They had breakfast in a dining hall, heard from the MIT grad/inventor who started the workleisure performance clothing company called Ministry of Supply, practiced their presentation in their assigned room in Stata Center, went on an MIT scavenger hunt, and played some card games.
Day two of EurekaFest was a busy, amazing, incredible day! The morning began with the InvenTeam's flawless presentation of their invention, IllumiLane, to a packed audience. They fielded audience questions with ease, and the poise, knowledge, and passion demonstrated throughout the presentation impressed everyone in attendance.
Next up was the EurekaFest Showcase. Hundreds of people -- students, teachers, LMIT staff, MIT professors, parents, and the general public -- stopped by their table to learn about IllumiLane. The team was IMPRESSIVE -- everyone would have been proud to see them in action.
The final event of EurekaFest was the awards ceremony, where the CCDS InvenTeam was thrilled to receive both the Excellence in Communications Award AND the prestigious Golden Beaver Award. Each year, a member of Beaver Works (an educational collaboration between Lincoln Laboratory and MIT School of Engineering) attends EurekaFest to identify ONE team to receive the Golden Beaver Award for excellence in technical achievement. We couldn't be prouder of our students for bringing this year's Golden Beaver Award home to Country Day!
When they weren’t winning awards at EurekaFest, the InvenTeam made the most of their free time and went sightseeing around Boston, explored MIT’s campus including visits to the MIT Museum and Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, visited the P&G/Gilette plant, met with a Harvard Admissions Officer, toured Tufts, Northeastern, and Boston University, and much more!
To say we are proud of this incredible group of students (and their adult co-educators!) would be the understatement of the century. Click the button below to read more about their experience at EurekaFest, and stay tuned to see what's next for these outstanding inventors and IllumiLane!

Announcing the 2024 Arts Hall of Fame Honorees
To celebrate the strong and vibrant tradition in the arts at CCDS, the Arts Hall of Fame recognizes former Country Day students and community members for their contributions in the fine, musical, performing, and literary arts. We are pleased to announce that the following individuals have been selected as the 2024 Arts Hall of Fame honorees:
Malcolm M. Dalglish ’71 is widely acclaimed musician (a player of hammer dulcimers, primarily, but also of spoons and bones!), singer, choral director, and composer. As a child, he traveled the world with the American Boychoir. After graduating from CCDS, he was in residence with a new theater troupe at Oberlin College then attended UC’s College Conservatory of Music. Malcolm was a founding member of the popular folk trio Metamora; with them and in his solo career, Malcolm has made many recordings on the Windham Hill and other labels, including his own Oolitic Music label. Malcolm strives to create songs that are “playgrounds for singers.” Choirs throughout the world have commissioned him to create music for them, and he performs with them everywhere from schools and festivals to Carnegie Hall. Malcolm’s folk choir, The Oolites, is known for a sound that is both earthy and ethereal. Malcolm also runs a singing camp in the Sierra Mountains called Oolation.

Bike Day was full of adventure for our young riders as they explored open spaces and enjoyed the freedom of riding. By encouraging a love for cycling from a young age, we're nurturing their confidence, independence, and the spirit of exploration!
Congratulations to the Class of 2028! The list of accomplishments is long for this small but mighty class, and will only keep growing with everything we know they will accomplish in high school.
A junior at Bowdoin College, Ella Beyreis '21 won the Eaton Leith Francophone Studies Prize, awarded to a member of the sophomore and junior class who, by proficiency and scholarship, achieves outstanding results in the study of French literature. Currently, Ella is studying abroad in Toulouse, France.
There is no brighter way to spend the eve of the last day of school than a color run! From start to finish, it was an explosion of colors and laughter for our Lower School students and families.
Students, faculty, and staff lined the halls to clap out the legendary Brock Miller after 31 years of service to this school community. You will be missed, Mr. Miller!
Student Council President Parker Corbin '24 delivered his final speech to his fellow graduates at Commencement.
5th graders in environmental science collaborated with a UC professor, Joe Johnson, to identify the variety of bat species on campus through a program we are piloting called Batservation! There are now acoustic survey detectors throughout our 60-acre campus that are capturing sound recordings of the bats' nighttime activity.
Thank you!
Thank you to everyone who has supported the school this year with gifts to the Country Day Fund. You have made a tremendous difference to the experience of our students and teachers!
