Lynn Lubecki '05: Seeing the Potential at Any Age


When Lynn Lubecki ’05 was in high school, a guidance counselor told her she wasn’t college material. “I was told I wasn’t smart enough for college,” she says. “I was written off. That’s a powerful message.”

Jasenya McCauley ’21 used to be a compulsive shopper. “Even though I looked nice, there was too much clothing in my closet with tags still on it and too much that hadn’t been worn in a year,” she says.

In Remembrance

SUNY Empire Mourns Alumnus Who Founded Feminist Arts School


Nancy Azara ’74, a sculptor best known for her carved wood sculptures and mixed media collages, has died.



She was also a co-founder of the New York Feminist Art Institute, a school for women artists that emerged from the feminist consciousness raising that began in the early 1970s.

Alumni Day at the Races!

Join fellow alumni, students, and staff for Alumni Day at the Races at the historic Saratoga Race Course!

12 p.m., Post time is 1 p.m.

Saratoga Race Course, 267 Union Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY

$30 per person


The event includes admission, a racing program, reserved grandstand seating, the “orange sheet,” give-a-ways, and door prizes. Guests are welcome.


*Please note: The entire event will take place at the track. There will not be a pre-reception. Once registered, tickets will be distributed via email by the Office of Alumni Engagement.

The Music of "The Lion King" at SPAC

You and your guests are invited to attend Disney’s “The Lion King” at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. The special event is being hosted by the Empire State University’s Veteran and Military Resource Center and will include SUNY Empire students.


Date: Saturday, August 17

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Saratoga Performing Arts Center


The Philadelphia Orchestra will perform Hans Zimmer’s Oscar-winning musical score. The show will feature the award-winning music of Elton John, lyricist Tim Rice, and South African producer and composer Lebo M. The movie will be shown on a large screen. 

Tickets are $39 per person for lawn seats. The event will also feature door prizes. Attendees are allowed to bring up to three guests. Seating is limited.

Community Conversation: Ask the Experts About Literacy


Join SUNY Empire faculty members Joanne Kramer, Tom Mackey, and Karis Jones for a panel discussion on literacy, moderated by Naomi Leconte-Lucio ’23, an ELA teacher in the Master of Arts in Teaching, English program.


Date: Wednesday, August 21

Time:11 a.m. to noon

The program will begin with introductions from our expert panel and will be shaped by participant questions around literacy today and in the future.

NY Jets v. Broncos


Join SUNY Empire alumni and friends as the NY Jets take on the Denver Broncos. Seating will be limited. The game will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 29 at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. More details to come!
