Community Collaborations International

Environmental, Disaster Relief and Human Service Projects for Volunteer Teams

For over 20 years, CCI has been building relationships with local community partners and recruiting volunteer teams to support their efforts.

Making a Difference in Puerto Rico

The work of CCI volunteer teams helped make Carmen Maldonado's return to her home possible.

Carmen Maldonado is a 76-year-old "Pepiniana", from San Sebastian del Pepino, in the northern region of the island. Carmen has lived in her house for over 40 years and all her memories exist between these walls.

When Hurricane Maria struck the Island, she remained at her home with her pets. The water flow from the roof was so strong that her whole house flooded and was damaged, including electrical systems, doors, kitchen cabinets, and bathrooms. Carmen almost died after the Hurricane as she needed medical assistance and could not receive it because of the power outage and lack of communication systems.

"It is a blessing to know that there are people willing to help in times of crisis like this. Thank you to all the volunteers for your dedication of time and effort to help me come back safely to my home." - Carmen Maldonado

There are many other Puerto Ricans like Carmen living in storm damaged housing. Please send a volunteer team to Puerto Rico!

Feedback from our Volunteers

"We have done two service trips with Community Collaborations International to Puerto Rico and love the experience. Each day you do different service projects, have transportation to each site, and get to try authentic Puerto Rican cuisines. The CCI team does great at making this a memorable trip for students!" - Alex Whitmore, Assistant Director, Center for Community Engagement, Indiana State University, December 2022 and March 2023

CCI takes care of all food, accommodation, local transportation, tools, safety equipment, and even a full-time bilingual volunteer coordinator, allowing your team to concentrate on completing projects.

"After this experience, my passion for pursuing a career with humanitarian intentions has definitely grown much stronger than I ever could have imagined. I hope to spend more of my life helping people in the way I helped them over this spring break." Ohio State Volunteer

Florida Hurricane Idalia and Ian Relief

Send a volunteer team to participate in disaster relief, environmental recovery, and community-oriented projects.

Community Collaborations International will be continuing work on Hurricane Ian recovery projects. We will begin deploying volunteer teams after Thanksgiving and will continue to be there through the end of May.

Our top priority is providing direct relief to individuals and families who have been displaced by the storm. We also provide support to local community organizations such as food banks, free clothing outlets, and community based organizations struggling to meet the increased needs of families and elderly.

Guatemala Projects

Since 2008, Community Collaborations International volunteers have been an important part of the continued improvements to the lives of the people of San Miguel Escobar, Guatemala.

We have partnered with local small scale coffee producers and local artisans to address issues and injustices within the coffee supply chain and to improve their quality of life.

Your volunteer team will have the opportunity to work with local direct-trade farmers, artisans, and local schools while also learning about the rich history of coffee farming and trade in Guatemala.

"You really get to know the coffee farmer by following them up to his coffee fields on the sides of Agua Volcano and then into his home, seeing and taking part in how coffee makes it from the ground to the cup. Roasting, grinding, boiling and tasting the best coffee I have ever had and I loved getting to see what real life in Guatemala is like." - Rutgers University Volunteer
