This project offers volunteers a unique opportunity to assist a small remote community located at the Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge 

Volunteers stay in cabinas by the beach managed the Calderon family dedicated to agroecology locally grown organic food production and sharing their culture with volunteers. They will complete projects in the Gandoca community such as work in the community garden, projects with the local school, and work on community recycling. When turtles are nesting volunteers will also participate in sea turtle conservation activities such as: monitoring of the sea turtle nesting activity (night patrols and morning surveys) habitat improvement projects and beach debris removal.

This wildlife refuge protects some the region’s most endangered flora and fauna; crocodiles, pacas, West Indian manatees, caimans, tapirs, tarpons, dolphins, green sea turtles, leatherback sea turtles, frigate birds, woodpeckers, parakeets, eagles, pelicans, toucans and motmots.

We are seeking volunteer teams to assist with flood disaster relief in Kentucky.
