InvestUP Awarded $15M for U.P. Economic Development Priorities
With support from the U.P. legislative delegation and the Governor, InvestUP has received an allocation of $15 million for Upper Peninsula economic development priorities as part of the 2022-2023 Michigan budget. The funds can be used for any of four critical challenges facing the region: housing development, childcare, broadband, and talent attraction, although it is expected that the focus of the funds will be on incentivizing housing development across the U.P. This is a historic, transformative opportunity to show how the state and a region can effectively partner to address critical challenges and better advance economic development and community development opportunities. This is an important resource that The Alliance has advocated for and welcomes as a key tool to assist with housing solutions across the U.P. We look forward to working with InvestUP and other partners to develop impactful projects.
