The perfect place to connect.
Sunday Small Groups are back.
There was a great response to our Sunday Small Groups in the fall, so we’re bringing them back for six weeks from January 16 thru February 20 from 10:15 to 11 am.
Create powerful connections with fellow parishioners and with God as you and your group go deep with the topic of your choice.
Registration is not required but is helpful. Sign up by Monday, January 17 for the Sunday Small Group of your choice here.

Spirituality and Creative Expression (Michaux House Basement)
Please join us as we meet together for a time of fellowship, discussion, and creative “making.” Pack up your drawing pencils, yarn, watercolor, or hand work. Each week a different theme will be presented as we work on projects and create in community.

No Nursery, Children's Chapel, or Sunday School
In light of the recent rise in Covid cases and out of an abundance of caution for our youngest members, we are temporarily closing the nursery, and will not be having Children’s Chapel during the 9:00 service. Sunday school is canceled too, but we may return to our typical children’s ministry programming by January 23, 2022.
Moving forward, please watch the eChimes for weekly updates about the nursery, Children’s Chapel and Sunday School.
For more information about COVID in our area, please click here.

Please be aware that our 9 am and 11:15 am services are live-streamed each Sunday. Your image may be used in our broadcast.
Out of respect for people’s privacy, we will no longer be filming people at the Communion rail. And any shots of the congregation will focus on groups of people, not 2 or 3 people.

A Live Reading of MLK’s Letter
from a Birmingham Jail
on the steps of St. James’s
On Monday, January 17th at 10 am, the steps of St. James’s will be alive with the inspiring words of Martin Luther King Jr.’s Letter from a Birmingham Jail. The letter will be read by multiple readers with musical interludes performed live by Lisa Edwards Burrs. Click here to see the full line-up of readers.
This is the ideal way to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day – by being reminded of Dr. King’s wisdom, bravery, deep faith and unshakeable belief in the justice of civil rights.

Introduction to Mindfulness & Meditation,
our new Wednesday Night class
(starting this Wednesday January 19th)
Living with more peace, clarity and open-heartedness is a healthy goal any time–but especially right now. In this 6-class Introduction to Mindfulness and Meditation series, St. James'ser Fraser Davis will guide us in an exploration of how mindfulness can support us in bringing out our best selves. You can register here.
Each class will include a short talk, guided meditation and mindfulness practices, and collaborative discussion to explore and practice calming our busy minds, taming the stories we tell ourselves, and cultivating social and emotional skills like resilience, intentionality, skillful communication, compassion, and joy. The final class will be taught by Br. Leo Campos, who will talk about how the practices can support our Christian faith and traditional Christian prayer forms.
Fraser is a certified mindfulness meditation teacher offering classes and workshops to individuals, groups, schools and organizations. She is certified by the Greater Good Science Center, University of California, Berkeley having completed their two-year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program. She is also a 200-hour trained yoga instructor.

If you only read one story in this week’s eChimes…
…please make it this one about
St. James'ser Jay Ball. It will warm your heart and maybe even bring a tear to your eye.

The Annual Meeting will be
in church, in person.
Sunday, January 30th, between the services, we’ll be holding our Annual Meeting. The magic number is 165. That’s the number required for a quorum. So please try to count yourself among our most committed members.
We’ll be voting on new Vestry members and receiving updates on our progress over the last year. We look forward to seeing you there.
