First Lady of Louisiana Visits New Eden Emergency Center

Earlier this month we were honored to host Louisiana's First Lady, Donna Edwards at our recently opened Eden Emergency Center. We were excited to join as a community in celebration of this new shelter for survivors of human trafficking.

Event speakers included Eden Centers’ Clinical Director, Jennifer Best, and Graduate and current Support Staff member, Kelly Malcolm. Kelly gave a moving speech about her experience at Eden Centers and the hopes she has for the new facility. Kara Van De Carr, Founder and President of Eden Centers, and Greg Feirn, CEO of LCMC Health, spoke of their gratitude for our partnership that has created the first ever low-barrier shelter connected to a hospital. Louisiana's First Lady Donna Edwards then spoke about her current work with The Louisiana First Foundation that strives to prevent human trafficking and her plans to continue to dedicate herself to this work once her husband's term as Governor is over.

We are grateful to all who attended and joined us to show their support for our ongoing efforts to eradicate human trafficking.

Adopt a Block

Eden Centers participated in Adopt a Block hosted by New Orleans Police Department. This event, hosted on Chef Menteur Highway, brought awareness to sexual assault, human trafficking, and child exploitation. The event consisted of an opening ceremony and parade with tents along the road for the many community organizations that support this cause. We were so glad to be a part of this first ever event!

Happy Easter!

Thank you to St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Women and the Women of Trinity Church for putting together beautiful Easter baskets for our residents. Our residents were so grateful to be remembered during this holiday season. And of course they enjoyed their chocolate bunnies!

Birthday Celebrations

We were so happy to be with staff member Belinda and two of our residents to celebrate their birthdays! To celebrate, our community went to lunch at New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood! It is a joy to help support and celebrate another year of life for these women.

Apply to be an Intern

We love our interns at Eden Centers! They bring such a fun spirit to our community. Truly, Eden House would not be able to do what we do without the support of our interns. Thank you for your hard work!

If you would like to be an intern at Eden Centers, summer internship applications are opened now. Apply to be an intern for Summer 2023!
