A Franciscan Family of Faith

Peace! May God bless you today, and every day!

We celebrated the Feast Day of Saint Francis of Assisi this past week on October 4th. This brief biography of the founder of the Franciscan Order states that "Francis always had in his heart the desire to do great things."

We invite you and your loved ones to join us in faith and in service and to join us as we strive to do great things! For with God, all things are possible. (Mt. 19:26)

Please enjoy scrolling through this newsletter, and let us know if you have any questions or comments!

Inspiring Movies

Mother Teresa: No Greater Love

Twenty-five years have passed since the death of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, sparking a renewed interest in this spiritual giant of the 20th century. Filmed on 5 continents and featuring unprecedented access to both institutional archives and the apostolates of the Missionaries of Charity, this film reveals not just who Mother Teresa was, but how her singular vision to serve Christ in the poor continues to be realized through the Missionaries of Charity today. This is far more than a documentary film. It is at once a soaring tribute to a spiritual icon, a powerful witness of authentic Christian charity, and a guidepost for all who seek hope in our turbulent times.

This film will be in theaters in Manchester and North Haven on Nov. 2nd (and a few other select locations in CT and MA).

Visit motherteresamovie.com for details.

"The family that prays together, stays together."

The man behind that famous saying was Fr. Patrick Peyton. His incredible story is one that 'you just can't make it up'.

"Venerable Patrick Peyton was a trailblazer who transformed the lives of millions of Catholics. He was a poor Irish immigrant, yet he won the praise of popes and Hollywood elites. He was on the brink of death as a young man, yet his faith and the Rosary restored his health...". Click here to learn more about Fr. Peyton at fatherpeyton.org.

This is way better than the dancing panda video.

All Saints' Day is a solemn holy day of the Catholic Church celebrated annually on November 1. The day is dedicated to the saints of the Church, that is, all those who have attained heaven. It should not be confused with All Souls' Day, which is observed on November 2, and is dedicated to those who have died and not yet reached heaven. - Catholic.org

All Saints Day

All Saints Day is November 1st and is Holy Day of Obligation.

Mass Schedule:

4pm on Monday, October 31st

7am, 8:45am, 12pm and 7pm on Tuesday, November 1st

All you holy men and women, pray for us!

The Church is composed of the faithful living upon the earth and those who have gone before us. The latter includes the Saints in Heaven and the faithful Souls being purified in Purgatory. Just as on November 1st we honor those who are with God, on November 2nd Catholics celebrate a Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed. Also known as All Souls Day, on this day we honor them for their fidelity in life, as well as pray for them, since they are being purified before entering the All Holy Presence of God. As Revelation 21:27 says of the Heavenly Jerusalem, “… nothing unclean shall enter in.”  - EWTN.com

All Souls Day

All Souls Day is Wednesday, November 2nd.

Our Parish Memorial Mass will be held at 7pm on Nov. 2nd. Letters of invite were sent to those who lost a loved one in the past year. If you are the next of kin and did not receive a letter, please contact the parish office. There will be no 5pm Mass on Nov. 2nd.

The Knights of Columbus Mass of Remembrance will be celebrated on Sunday, November 13th at 9am.

Man of the Year - Luke!

Did you know that there are three cycles of the Gospel readings that we hear at Mass?

Year A mostly features the Gospel of Matthew, Year B features the Gospel of Mark; and Year C - our current year - showcases the Gospel of Luke.

Why not take some time to read the Gospel of Luke on your own as well? There are many online resources that make reading the Bible easy and understandable:

Eucharistic Adoration

The Msgr. Thomas L Greylish Council of The Knights of Columbus invites all Men of the Parish to join in a Men's Holy Hour on Sunday, October 30 at 7:00pm.

Jesus asked his Apostles: “Could you not watch one hour with Me?” Jesus is making that same request to you. Will you consider taking a hour out of your busy life and give it to the Lord who is truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament?

“Let Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament speak to your hearts. It is he who is the true answer of life that you seek.” - Pope St. John Paul II

*Remember that Holy Hour also takes place every Tuesday at 4pm at St. Paul Church. Come spend some quiet time with Our Lord.
