Monday, July 24

NM Game and Fish with Storm Usrey

11 AM at the Children & Youth Library

Join us for a special presentation by Storm Usrey of New Mexico Game and Fish!


Come learn about some of the wildlife species that can be found in New Mexico by looking at some scientific specimens of antlers, horns, skulls, pelts, and pictures.


Note: This program is replacing our usually scheduled story time today. While everyone is welcome at this program, it will probably be most engaging for ages 6 and up.

Eureka! - Lego City Earthquake

4 PM at the Children & Youth Library

Eureka! is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) program for kids ages 6 to 11. Join us for this hands-on activity as we learn about types of earthquakes and the way that engineers design buildings to withstand them.

Chess Club

Learn how to play chess, or improve your game! Every Tuesday, we will have a lesson on developing your tactics and strategy. All ages are welcome.

Family Storytime

11 AM at the Children & Youth Library

An energetic story and song time for children ages 0 to 5 and their families. This month we are reading stories and singing songs about neighborhoods and communities.

Open Makerspace Time

3-6 PM at the Children & Youth Library

Kids and adults ages 6 and up are invited to explore the OFPL Makerspace equipment, which currently includes a 3D printer, button maker, and many engineering and STEM kits.

Midweek Matinee - Pele: Birth of a Legend (2016)

3 PM at the Main Library

Celebrate National Soccer Day, which is on July 28!


This biopic of Brazilian soccer star Pelé recounts his youth in the slums of São Paulo and his rapid ascension to the national team, where, at the age of just 17, he helped lead the squad to their first ever World Cup victory in 1958.

Join us for a national exhibition that aims to help people appreciate migration histories — their own and those of others — by drawing on a wealth of case studies from across human history and the breadth of cultures.

Navajo Rug Weaving Class

10 AM at the Main Library

Join Diné weaver Lois A. Becenti with Diné Be´ iinà – The Navajo Lifeway – for a weaving workshop! Learn the fundamentals and techniques of rug weaving in the traditional Diné style, including warping, carding, and spinning.


Please bring your own weaving materials and projects to work on.

Saturday, July 2

Library Closure


Today both the Children & Youth Library and the Main Library will be closed because we will all be at the End-of-Summer-Reading Party at the Fox Run Golf Course. Come and join us there!


We will resume our regular Saturday hours (12-4 PM) next Saturday, August 5.

End-of-Summer-Reading Pary!

12 - 4 PM at Fox Run Golf Course

Go out with a bang for the end of summer! Join us at Fox Run Golf Course for entertainment, food, games, and more at our “All Together Now” Block Party! Our activities will include games, face painting, and an inflatable water slide and bouncy house. Brian Young, author of Healer of the Water Monster and Heroes of the Water Monster will be in attendance! We will also be drawing names for our summer reading grand prizes, which include an Oculus VR headset, a drone, and a bicycle!
