VOLUME I, NO. 2 • August 17, 2020
As the summer begins to wind down, the heat has decided to make a dramatic resurgence. For the next few days, temperatures will be in the 90's throughout Orange County and will break 100 in some places.

If you're like me, and don't have air conditioning at home, you know how miserable these dog days can get. Making things worse for many of our friends and neighbors is isolation to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please take the time to check in on the elderly and those with small children who may need assistance. And speaking of dogs, pets are another source of concern. If possible, keep pets inside with plenty of water and avoid walking them on hot sidewalks or the street that can burn the pads of their feet.

Southern California Edison issued an alert this morning urgently requesting residents and businesses to conserve power between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. for the next several days to help prevent rolling blackouts while the power grid is stressed to capacity. I realize this is incredibly hard to ask of people while so many of us, and our children, are at home. But simple things like closing off areas of your home to help ac work more efficiently, turning off lights, not running other appliances during peak hours all make a difference. Please help if you are able and stay safe!
