From the Senior Warden, Stephanie Gadzik

Be a visible neighbor.

We have so much traffic right outside our front door - especially in the summer! Let’s be as visible as we can in our community and also be a good neighbor; we’re bringing back the Farmer’s Market friendly outreach! We can share cold water and lemonade and NEW! invite prayer requests on the large chalkboard that will be wheeled out to the sidewalk each Saturday morning this summer. (Read about the inspiration for this and what to expect - there are gifts given and gifts received.) If every household takes a weekend, we’ll be all set! Sign up with a friend or family member, or arrange to share a morning shift, and enjoy the neighborhood!

Sign-ups

We have a busy spring schedule! Thank you everyone, for every bit of love you’re sharing at All Saints. Let’s keep going! <3 See the bulletin board in the hallway - or contact Emily in the office - for these activities coming up.

  1. Parish picnic, June 2. Bring a side dish to pass.
  2. Farm Market Neighbor, Saturdays starting June 1.
  3. Fox Valley Pride Festival, June 22, location TBA. Sign up for an hour or two to represent our church, pass out paper crosses and water, and invite prayer requests.

Appreciation

We’ll host a recognition and appreciation prayer this Sunday, May 26, to acknowledge the many gifts of time, talent, and treasure that are shared here, to benefit both All Saints and the neighbors all around us. Notecards will be available in the pews for you to jot a note of thanks or encouragement to fellow parishioners for ministries both seen and unseen. There are so many good things happening!

About the April 19th Ministry Team and Planning Session

The April 19, 2024 vestry meeting was given over to a 90-minute all-parish ministry team discussion and planning session. Nearly 40 parishioners attended. Eight tables were set up for the eight ministry team areas to gather together. These eight areas are a new way of organizing parish activity this year.

There were two goals for the event.

  1. Collect information from ministry teams that will help with communication and resource allocation.
  2. Draft a parish calendar (time)
  3. Draft the parish budget for ministry team activity (treasure)
  4. Clarify the people leading and involved in each ministry area (talent)
  5. Establish a process of communication and sharing leadership in establishing plans and timelines
  6. Among ministry team members
  7. Between ministry team and vestry members
  8. Between the vestry and the parish

Were these goals met? Yes, as a work still in-process. The eight ministry teams model is brand new and will take some practice. Information on calendars, ministry teams, team activity, and more will be shared on the bulletin board in the hallway and in parish newsletters. The eight areas are:

Education and Formation - Ruth Ring

Communication and Technology - Ken Bozeman

Finance - Stephanie Gadzik

Congregation Care - Julie Holly and Paul Van Duser

Worship Support - Cathy Twomey

Buildings and Grounds - Pete Gilbert and Barb Schoenike

Outreach - Jan Watson

Hospitality and Fellowship - Peggy Garefino

From the Treasurer, Tina Wilfer

All Saints Events

Memorial Day

The parish office will be closed for Memorial Day on Monday, May 27. Bible Study and the Living Christianity program are canceled that day as well.

Summer Sundays

During the summer months, beginning June 2, we'll have one Sunday service at 9:30 am. The last Sunday of each month will be a spoken Rite I service. Regular service times will resume in September.

Parish Picnic

All are welcome to gather on the north lawn for a leisurely lunch after the 9:30am worship service on Sunday, June 2. Bring your picnic blankets or camp chairs, and sign up on the bulletin board or by contacting the office to bring a dish to pass.

Pillars Feeding Ministry

On Monday, May 27, volunteers from All Saints will provide and serve a meal at Pillars Adult & Family Shelter. We need people to cook (3:30-5:30pm) and serve (5-7pm), plus a couple of dessert makers to prepare treats ahead of time. Please sign up on the bulletin board or speak to Paul Van Duser (847-287-2321 or paul.vanduser@gmail.com) if you can help out!

Music at All Saints - Thank Yous

Music at All Saints #1 has happened! Multiple thank you's need to be shared.

First, I (Joanne Bozeman) must pass on comments from our guest artist Wen-Lei Gu, who thanks the church for the opportunity to play in our Sanctuary, adding: "I felt so supported along the way in this whole process. It was very special for me to play Bach in the beautiful space of All Saints! The wonderful acoustic made me feel closer to Bach's music. My students also commented on how nice it was to hear Bach in this setting!"

Thanks for the delicious treats at the reception (at which many people lingered!) go to: Karl Breice, Cathy Twomey, Carol Jegen, Sarah Gaines, Janet Kaul, and Ruth Ring. So much gratitude goes to many others who helped in various ways: to Emily Gilbert, for printing posters and programs; to Sarah and Pete Gilbert for hosting and reception clean-up; to other hosts, Paul Van Duser, Jan Watson, Tina Wilfer; to Carol Jegen for last-minute advice and clean-up; and to Pam Sealy and Steve Gilling for last-minute, high-altitude cleaning in the Sanctuary. Thanks to Ken Bozeman for stage management, and to Fr. Christopher for introducing "Lei Lei" to our wonderfully full audience. And to anyone else who helped, but that I didn't know about, thank you!

The donations offered for our food ministry for Pillars were very generous, indeed! I am still coming down to earth from the fabulous music, the fellowship, and the opportunity to welcome our community to our beautiful Parish.

Diocesan & Community Events

Imago Dei

Join us for a joyful and faith-filled celebration of our LGBTQIA+ siblings! On Sunday, June 2nd at 2:15 pm, we will be teaming up with local churches to host a celebration at the Ashwaubenon Community Center. In its fourth year, this celebration, “Imago Dei” honors the fact that all persons are made in the image of God. This partnership will begin with a worship service honoring the dignity of our LGBTQ+ siblings made in God’s image, and it will conclude with a picnic meal & celebration beginning immediately after the service at approximately 3:30 p.m. All participants are encouraged to bring a dish to pass and asked to RSVP on Facebook (Imago Dei - Green Bay) or by emailing imagodeigb@gmail.com. Together, we will stand in faith to affirm our LGBTQ+ siblings in Christ!

Episcopal Church Pride Shield

In affirmation and celebration of The Episcopal Church’s LGBTQ+ members, the Office of Communication is pleased to unveil a new Pride shield available online for churchwide use.

The design retains the upper-left blue corner of The Episcopal Church’s shield logo and incorporates elements of the traditional Pride flag as well as the Progress Pride flag and Philadelphia Pride flag. In their use of black, brown, pink, and light-blue diagonal lines, the latter two flags represent intersectional progress in acknowledging people who are often overlooked by the mainstream LGBTQ+ movement: communities of color; the transgender community; and the many thousands harmed by anti-LGBTQ+ policy—from those who lost their lives in the AIDS crisis of the 1980s and ‘90s, to those still disproportionately impacted today.

Read more about the Pride shield here.

Opportunities to Serve

New Outreach Opportunities at All Saints

We are excited to share plans to strengthen and expand the outreach work we do at All Saints. In addition to our 2 regular monthly volunteer meal opportunities at Pillars and Salvation Army we are kicking off quarterly collection of items that support a specific charitable organization serving residents in the Fox Valley. Roughly each quarter, we will select an organization, and request items that are of most need to that organization. More information about the organization and their needs will be shared in the bulletin, newsletters, hallway bulletin boards, and on our social media.

All Saints parishioners are invited to give as much or little as you are able! Together, our gifts will help individuals and families who need shelter, food, clothing, and personal care in the Fox Valley.  As we follow the footsteps of Jesus, we want to collectively live out his calling to feed the hungry, clothe the poor, and serve the needs of our neighbors.

Our first organization we identified to support is Pillars. From homelessness to coming home, Pillars provides shelter, support, and solutions to address the housing needs in our community. To learn more about Pillars and the work they do throughout the Valley, click here. Throughout the months of May – July, we will collect items needed as identified by Pillars. This list can be found in your bulletin, the bulletin board, or here. Pillars also needs gifts cards, which you can purchase through Suzanne Fischer as RaiseRight and benefit All Saints at the same time!

Collection runs from May 1 – early July. Items can be brought to church on Sundays, or dropped off at any time the church office is open. Questions can be directed to Jan Watson or Catherine Neiswender.

Lawrence University Children's Book Drive

pile_of_old_books.jpg

Lawrence University is holding a drive to collect children's books for Boys & Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley, and All Saints is one of the locations hosting a donation box. You're invited to donate new or gently used K-3 level books, including easy readers, picture books, and early chapter books. The donation box (and a poster with more information) will be in the hallway May 7-24.
