OCEAN VIEW PICKLEBALL COURT CONVERSION | |
The pickleball court conversion project began on Monday, May 6 at Ocean View Park. Construction should be completed in approximately 30 days and the courts will remain closed during this time. These new pickleball courts will include new nets, posts, windscreens, LED light fixtures and additional seating among other amenities. This Parks, Recreation & Open Space Master Plan project is made possible through the Proposition 68 Per Capita Grant Program and Measure M – Parks & Open Space Parcel Tax funding. | |
MAINTENANCE ALERT: ANNUAL SANITARY SEWER CLEANING | |
Annual sanitary sewer maintenance is scheduled to begin in May 2024. This work is vital to prevent sewer system blockages and overflows and entails sewer cleaning and CCTV inspections on over six miles of Albany sewers this year. During cleaning operations, there may be a temporary release of odors that will subside once the work is completed but sewer services will not be impacted. Work is anticipated to take approximately one month. Please follow posted signage for your safety and to ensure the project moves quickly. | |

PARCEL TAX EXEMPTIONS AND RENTER REBATES AVAILABLE | |

The City of Albany offers exemptions for income qualified homeowners and rebates for income qualified renters on up to six eligible parcel taxes.
You must apply every year. The application for 2024 is now available.

Dates: June 10th – August 9th , 1 week sessions
Friendship Summer Camp will give your child a summer to remember! Each week children will do activities that include art, crafts, sensory play, engineering & building, science, and outdoor group games. The children will go on weekly walking field trips to local parks and the Albany Aquatic Center for pool day fun!

The Albany Arts Committee sponsors 4 art shows per year and the exhibits run for approximately 3 months. The Gallery has played host to wonderful & talented artists from Albany and neighboring cities.

Albany Mural Project
The City of Albany has released a Call for Artists for the inaugural installation of the Albany Murals Project: murals on four columns supporting the BART tracks on the Ohlone Greenway. Applications are welcome from individuals as well as teams, collectives, and collaborators. The theme is "Gateways," and the deadline for submissions is Monday, May 20 at 4 PM.

Arts Committee - The Committee advises the City Council on cultural and artistic matters within the City including the acquisition and placement of public art. The Committee adheres to the Public Arts Master Plan, the Art in Public Places Ordinance and the Public Arts Project Plan in order to support, develop and promote art in Albany and increase the economic vitality of the City.

Climate Action Committee - The Committee serves as a technical advisory committee regarding matters related to climate action and advises the Council on matters related to reducing greenhouse gases; and adapting to climate change.

Housing Advisory Commission - The establishment of a Housing Advisory Commission is to advise the City Council on policies and strategies for implementation of the Housing Element programs related to tenant protections, fair and equitable access to housing, housing programs, rent review, and other related programs.

Pre-applications for the final round of AC Boost are now being accepted! AC Boost is Alameda County's Down Payment Assistance Program funded by Measure A1. This program offers shared appreciation loans of up to $210,000 to first-time homebuyers who live in, work in, or have been displaced from Alameda County. Limited preference is given to First Responders and Educators.
