SYNERGY 2023
We are very happy to finally (because we know you have been asking) announce the dates for this year's Synergy Conference!!

The Synergy Conference convenes hundreds of out-of-school time providers, museums, libraries, community colleges, universities, child advocacy groups, faith-based organizations, community entities, and other stakeholders to share insight on research-based practices, effective programs, and public policies that impact students and their overall success in school and life. Elected officials and policymakers are invited to attend in order to hear how grassroots efforts are making a difference in the local community, families, and through student achievement.

After listening to feedback from our providers, and in order to line up more closely with events like Lights On Afterschool in the fall, Synergy will take place on November 13-14th this year at the Friday Conference Center in Chapel Hill, NC.

We will keep you updated with more information as it becomes available both here and on our website. We look forward to seeing you all for a rejuvenated and revamped conference this fall!

FINAL AFTERSCHOOL IN THE TIME OF COVID-19 SURVEY
The Afterschool Alliance has conducted a series of surveys since COVID began to ensure that afterschool and summer learning programs build on the innovations and lessons of the pandemic.

This ninth and final survey remains important for funders, policy makers, education leaders, and the overall public to understand the supports afterschool and summer learning programs are currently providing, the challenges they face, and what their needs are to better help their children and families. With support from the American Rescue Plan, there is a tremendous opportunity to increase investment in afterschool and summer programs to help students re-engage, re-connect, and recover.

In less than 15 minutes, you can contribute to the story of the critical role that afterschool and summer programs are playing

All those who complete the survey by 11:59 p.m. PT, Sunday, May 7, will be entered into a drawing for the chance to win one of 50 gift cards in the amount of $50.

If you need assistance completing the survey, please contact Lydia Redway
If you would like more information about the research, please contact Nikki Yamashiro

NC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
CHILD CARE SURVEY RESULTS WEBINAR
Child care plays a critical role in North Carolina’s long-term economic and workforce success – supporting children’s healthy development and learning, allowing parents to work, and keeping businesses operating.

There is ample data that the child care industry is nearing a breaking point with providers struggling to keep their businesses open and teachers leaving the field. However, the impact on North Carolinians and their views on this crisis has been largely anecdotal.

Join the NC Chamber Foundation on Wednesday, May 10th at 10 a.m. for a complimentary "Child Care Survey Webinar" to learn about North Carolina voters' child care experiences, the impacts on their ability to work, and their understanding and support for childcare.
