Summer Sabbath

The Month of July

Each Summer, we take one month as a church to Sabbath from our typical rhythms of church life. We reorient our hearts and minds on the Lord through rest in Him. We pare down our worship services, various ministries, meetings, and training opportunities to create space for our church family to rest, reorient, and refocus on the Lord. It isn’t about merely taking a break; it’s about trusting in the Lord.

This month we will be seeking to understand Sabbath by looking at it throughout the entirety of the Scriptures. Each week Pastor CJ will be walking through the Biblical text looking for where this central theme of the Scriptures shows itself. We'll also have opportunities and resources available to prompt ways to engage in this month of sabbath outside of Sunday mornings. Join us.

Sunday, July 23rd

Week 4: Jesus is the Sabbath

We’ve read the story of the feeding of 5,000 many times but have we ever looked at it through the lens of Sabbath? Jesus is painting a picture for His disciples of what rest in Him looks like. Join us this week as we look at this story through new eyes hoping to see what it is Jesus is teaching through this miracle.

Daily Prayers and coordinating Life Group Curriculum are available each week on Sunday to further explore this Sermon Series. You can find those resources (for this week and ALL previous weeks) HERE or at the Welcome Center on Sunday.

Adventure Finances

If you're interested in current church finances, see our NEW June & Year-to-Date graphics included above here.

Adventure of Faith is a very generous community of believers.

I know this because whenever we communicate a need, we meet it.

Q - Are we still on track to pay off the mortgage this year?

If not, how can I help? And if so, will we have a celebration?

A - YES! We'll make the final payment in mid-December.

All giving to the General Fund helps us meet our financial commitments (this includes our mortgage payments).

I expect we'll see a special celebration of some kind at the January 2024 congregational meeting so, stay tuned!

Next week I'll answer another financial question.

Please continue to send your Adventure-related financial questions to me at: admin@faithadventure.com

This section is a weekly reminder that God is Good!

He is good to us every single day & we will praise His name!

God is Good! Check out this new song the kids are learning at VBS and we'll be adding to our music rotation!

"My joy, my rest, do not depend

On my circumstance or how I'm feeling

Seasons, they change, we bend, we break

Molded and remade over and over

This is the day that You have made

I will rejoice and be glad in it"

This space in the newsletter is a small way we continue to celebrate the goodness of God all year long, and practice being aware of His presence in our lives. So, if you have stories of God's goodness big or small, hit reply to this email and send them our way. We would love to hear them, pray in praise over them and talk to you about sharing them.

To spur your thoughts to God's goodness start by asking yourself these questions:

What Good have you witnessed recently?

What Good has God brought into your life?

What Good has God prompted you to do for one another?

God is Good!!
